When I was a kid, there was a raspberry patch & a blackberry bramble in the lot next to our house. There would be a fresh quart of raspberries every day -- by the time the blackberries were ripe, we were already too sated to bother collecting them. (Not to mention the blackberries had 2-inch thorns.) Then somebody bought the lot and put in a house where the berries used to be.
(Those berries were delicious, but never as pretty as yours -- there was some disease in the soil that made them crumbly.)
These days, I make do with what the farmer's market offers, and I'm happy to have that much.
