The fall TV Guide arrived today, and at first I thought, a clothing catalog, as well, it's just so, gah, BLAND! I mean, it reminds me of what they did to the local supermarket's flyer that falls out of the newspaper.

Anyway, it's just pale, and again, all the photos are basically the same, so the spread for "Melrose Place" doesn't seem much different for ABC's remake of "V", which I totally missed the first time as really, where are the lizards, the aliens? Why is everyone standing around a swimming pool in formal wear???

I yawn as I flip past vampire shows. We're going to be buried in them. Yes, bad pun ;)

Okay, let's zip through the guide...

.Page 24 - TRAUMA
I love medical dramas, but they're all soap operas nowadays. Somehow, I think this will be the same. Critic says the pyrotechnics are good but the 'tedious melodrama flatlines.' Ouch!

Page 26 THE GOOD WIFE
Really enjoyed Julianna Margulies on ER but gah, didn't I suffer through enough 'politician cheats on wife' stuff in the news for the last several years. Sigh.

Page 28 THE FORGOTTEN
Christian Slater has a new show? I had no idea. Um, I sorta think the title could be a premonition, especially with a 10pm slot on ABC. Kiss of death.

Page 32 MELROSE PLACE
The evil that men do comes back to haunt them. Enough said. Remakes of trash. Gah.

Page 34 NCIS: LOS ANGELES
I'm sorry, I really am, but I'm rewatching it again on CBS at this very minute and well, it does zip for me. The chemistry between characters is just nada, and I must refrain from making any snarky comments about some actor's 'acting' ability (or lack thereof).

Page 37 "V"
Okay, aliens invader earth, etc. and everybody's lounging around a swimming pool in formal attire. Makes no sense. However, since Joel Gretsch is in the show, but alas, NOT in the picture (darn darn!) I shall check it out. And I do tend to check out scifi shows, and I can't see it being as awful as the NBC series (not miniseries) became. May draw in some Stargate SG-1 fans as Morena Baccarin (Adria) toplines.

Page 40 MERCY
ANother medical melodrama, this time with nurses. "Ludicrous potboiler" says the critic.

Page 42 COUGAR TOWN
Gah, spare me this inanity!!!

page 48 EASTWICk
Okay, I may check this out. Paul Gross (Fraser from DUE SOUTH) is in it, but more importantly, Jamie Ray Newman, who appeared as Cadman in Stargate Atlantis and she's just grown on me in EUREKA. I'm not at all much for the plot. Couldn't get through movie, but might manage a show. Oh wait, is it against CSI NY??

Page 51 FLASH FORWARD
I'll give it a try, but... these bizarre time shows usually don't last long, and I have this awful feeling I'll be picking the nits to death on this one, but I'll give it one shot.

Page 58 THREE RIVERS
I like Alex O'Loughlin but sounds like soapy medical show and I'm not sure how far you can drag out a show about just transplants.

Ah, Midseason looks a bit better

THE BRIDGE, a Canadian import, will show. I'll watch nearly any Canadian import just once.

Ah, page 68- ION TELEVISION
If you get that channel, check out DURHAM COUNTY, which begins series 1 on September 7th. Stars Hugh Dillon (from FLASHPOINT) and for Stargate Unviverse fans, Justin Louis, who is going by his real name  Luis Ferreira, which I think will confuse some fans to no end. Anyway, it's a very dark and brooding series, but luckily ION tv is going to show series 2 after series 1 (six episodes) ends, so you don't sit there for half a year or a year waiting!

So, well, I'll probably watch the CSI shows, although MIAMI has gotten so soapy I think I'll be bailing, alas :( . I'm thinking the ONLY new network show that really looks worth investing time in is "V". And I'll check out Stargate Universe on SyFy - can't recall if TV Guide put out that issue with syndicated fare yet; might have and it might have been just forgettable, but will definitely be watching DURHAM COUNTY. Ah, wait, that's against CSI MIAMI. Bye bye, Miami!

Sooooo.... thank goodness for five seasons of EMERGENCY! which will be more fun than the aforementioned medical messes, and Stargate Atlantis  and SG-1, and various movies, and oh yes, must remember to buy SUPERNATURAL season whatever (4, right?)

Note: Changed 'hissing noise' in subject line to 'sucking sound' on folks' advice. Yeah, that' the phrase I was looking for!

Jamie Ray Newman made me think "might want to try this," but when I heard Paul Gross would be in Eastwick, it became must see!

I get my vampires on Being Human--but the last episode of s1 just aired, so I have to wait goodness knows how long.

So I guess this is a medical show year :P I've never liked medical dramas - too depressing.

Though V and Eastwick sound intriguing, I'm more interested in the shows that I do watch picking up better story lines. I would really like to get back into Heroes like I did with Lost... sort of. But I'm not holding my breath about it, either.

I want Jace Hall to succeed - since he's been talking to Joe Flanigan about a project - so I'll check out V. I'll have to see if I get that ION channel. Otherwise, those 5 seasons of Emergency are sounding mighty fine. Johnny Gage for the win!

Yeah no kidding
:-(
Every time the trailer for SGU raises its foul head, and now that it is Sept. suspect it will be more and more, and I hear somebody say "What if we don't belong here??"
I reply outloud:
"You don't, its SGA's time slot"
PS: I feel same about Alex, but it does sound like more
Grey's Anatomy and Private Practice which to me are soaps in scrubs........they seem to all be rushing to replace ER.......I left ER after Carter left. I was finished.

Yay for Emergency! DVDs! But why is there so little Emergency! fan fiction? And a lot what I have seen is pretty bad. Or is it just somewhere other than ff.net?

Me thinks it's a great time to watch the tv shows I missed all these years on dvd...in fact, I don't think I need satellite anymore...goodbye cruel world.
Well, except for Craig Ferguson...still need him.

I'm actually looking forward to "Community" which I know is gonna be terrible, but I adore Joel McHale. I just know that Chevy Chase is gonna bring the show into a black hole of suckatude.
Other than that, no interest. I adore NCIS but I've had a crush on Mark Harmond since I saw "Summer School" when I was in junior high. I have no interest in seeing Chris O'Donnell ham it up.

I'm interested in V & FlashForward & Forgotten, but I think FF & Forgotten will be cancelled mid-season. It's so hard to give your time to new shows, getting interested in the character only to end up getting it cancelled and leave you with same old CSIs or L&Os

I'm looking forward to 'Castle' returning as well as 'Chuck' and 'Numb3rs,' plus I'll probably watch 'Desperate Housewives' with my mom as I grade papers. I'll also see if 'Bones' is any good this season, but I may not get home from teaching to catch it. I'm also glad 'Eureka' is on hulu since I don't have cable (Bridge needs to borrow a few of their writers).

That sucking sound...

Yeah, this TV season leaves much to be desired. Tired retreads...can't anyone come up with anything new? Most of the new medical or drama shows just don't look appealing to me.

"V" looks promising but BSG raised the bar on remakes so high that I'm highly biased now.

I've been enjoying DEFYING GRAVITY, but I fear it won't last. Hopefully the other show (uh, I think it starts with an S? *just kidding*) about people stuck on a space ship will be worth the wait.

I must admit, I do like some vampire shows, but not if they're anywhere near that teenybopper trilogy that must remain nameless. I don't get HBO, but want to watch True Blood on DVD. And I loved what I've seen of BEING HUMAN, but alas, Cablevision doesn't carry BBCA. Which sucks.

I've just finished watching the entirety of BLOOD TIES on DVD, which I really liked. Yet another show that didn't make it past the first season. *sigh*

The one thing that I'm really excited to see is the new season of SANCTUARY.

The only things I'm looking forward to for the Fall (that are new anyway) are White Collar and V. I'm also interested in checking out the new Spielberg 'aliens invade Earth show' on TNT, he's using ER alums like Noah Wyle (poor Ming Na, she may end up being in the wrong scifi show). I wouldn't mind checking out Glee too.

Returning stuff - Supernatural otherwise it's just more of the same. It's getting to be a real hunt to find decent TV out there, scripted or not.

Of all the new shows, I will be watching only NCIS:LA. I loved the new team, especially G. and Sam, and the promos look great! Big guys like Chris O'Donnell and LL Cool J afraid of tiny little Linda Hunt! Ha! XP

ETA: Oh, and White Collar, too!

Other than that: Supernatural, Bones, Castle, NCIS and The Mentalist. Right now, I'm watching only Psych and Leverage.

"V" is the only new show I'm close to being excited about. There is a small part of me that is excited to finally be able to see a Stargate type show on the air (I came into the fandom after SGA went off) but at the same time, SGU is meh. I'll try it though.

I'm excited for my existing shows, but yeah, not really for much new stuff.

Being in EMS myself, I'd hoped that "Trauma" would have legs, so to speak. Unfortunately, it sounds very "Third Watch," which got so bound up in the kissy-poo that the really exciting stuff was pushed out. Give me a good, wild EMS call, not a couple of medics making out.

Flash Forward is by a decent sci-fi writer (thought I never read the book the show is based on). And it's got Harold/Sulu AND Merry/Charlie :-)

However still nothing to make me want to get cable again.

I gave up on Miami a few years ago when he went to Rio and shot up a bunch of people. It's a shame, it was my favorite show along with the regular CSI (yay Grissom/Sara! Boo, my two favorite characters are gone!). Thank goodness for Stargate to come fill my TV love gap, heh.

I'll be watching Universe as well; Michael Shanks asked us to give it a chance, if only to be informed when we bitch about it (LOL), so I figure, sure! I kind of want to like it, though... heh.

I'm only planning on checking out 3 new shows, V, FlashForward and Three Rivers. I'm looking forward to the return of Castle, Heroes, Dexter, Fringe, Bones and Dollhouse.

I saw the preview for Flash Forward at the theater and thought "wow, that looks cool!" But then the TV previews started leaking what the flash forwards actually were and they seem really pathetic.

Can't wait for Castle to come back on. I'm angry that Sarah Connor Chronicles was taken off. My DVR didn't record the last episode.

Defying Gravity has been fun this summer, I hope it sticks around. Knowing the luck I have with shows though, it will be taken off ASAP.

I don't know about NCIS:LA, since Louise Lombard's going and they're talking about it being a "buddy show". I am so over buddy shows, as they say.

Castle on Monday, so goodbye to CSI:M, which has palled over the last couple of seasons.

NCIS on Tuesday, and I'm going to give The Forgotten a try.

CSI:NY on Wednesday is the only thing at this moment.

Thursday may have more of my time: I'll try Flash Foward for a week or two, and then I'll decide between CSI and Fringe, and of course Mentalist.

Friday - eh, nothing until Sanctuary returns. Oh, wait. Forgot Eureka.

Saturday - nope.

Sunday - will probably watch Three Rivers.

A lot of this will depend on when and where Burn Notice shows up and if and when they give us a second season of warehouse 13.

Give Miami a chance, they've gone back to basics. Adam Rodriguez is leaving and therefore no more Eric Delco melodrama and you'll LOVE Eddie Cibrian's Jesse Cordoza. I've watched the first three eps and it is MUCH better than last season. Delco is in the first six and then he's gone. I don't like romance in my Miami. It's not needed.
