Wait, wait - more on the Fall TV Season!

My post before this was about new shows on network, as i poked through the TV Guide. I neglected returning shows and other channels.

Returning shows. I'll watch the CSIs, although Miami is an, 'eh' cuz I think something else will be against it. Oh yeah. DURHAM COUNTY. Hugh Dillon vs. David Caruso. Sorry, Dave...

Ah, smacks self with dead trout. I will continue watching BIG BANG THEORY, but wish they'd left it on earlier in the evening. The guys are coming back from the North Pole. This should be fun.

NCIS. Of course! :)

Damn, can't remember what else is on. Yeah, TV is that exciting. Maybe they'll do a series 2 of MONSTERS INSIDE ME about parasites. That was fun. Really, it was. very interesting, although you'd never want to step outside your door again after watching it ;)

And then there's Stargate Universe....

Despite my misgivings about the show, I'll give it a whirl. So far, the promotional stuff I have seen, the trailers I've watched, don't scream "must see TV." For one thing, I've never been a fan of the shaky 'documentry' camera style they've used in some of the trailers. Didn't care for it when it first came out on NYPD BLUE and still don't. Secondly, a lot of the stuff out so far screams there's a bit of copying of Battlestar Galactica. Not the plot, of course, but the arc stuff, and 'dark and edgy'. Speaking of dark, I said it would be due to a lack of lightbulbs and gah, everything is dark. Heck, Caine's kwoon on Kung Fu: TLC was better lit! ;) I do like what I've seen the of the cast - having seen Carlyle and Diamond Phillips in other stuff, but... the stuff with body swapping, the communications device which means they're not really on their own - they can call home. It seems TPTB are backtracking on the show standing on its own and a real survival situation, and have cast every Stargate SG-1 main actor (RDA, Tapping, Shanks, Gary Jones). No sign of Chris Judge though, or Ben Browder...

And I still miss Stargate Atlantis, and don't see any sign of it being mentioned or cast members appearing in SGU at all.

There was an 'article' on Gateworld about Michael Shanks telling fans to watch SGU. I can't fault any actor for wanting fans to watch a show. If SGU succeeds, it means the SG market is still there and before we're all old and gray, we'll get SG1 and SGA movies... we hope. But most fans can make up their own mind. I can understand fans loving the idea of a new show, or hating it, or being ambivalent about. Trouble is that when you go to boards like GW, it ends up more like the town hall meeting on health care that I attended tonight, in which what you think are otherwise intelligent adults acting like ill-tempered brats. Now I remember why I stopped attending town meetings. 

But I still want more Stargate Atlantis. *Off to stare at 'teh hair' picture of Joe Flanigan.*

I've said this before, but I already know that if I watch SGU, it'll just make me want to watch Atlantis. That always happens whenever I watch so much as five minutes of SG-1 - I find myself going through my Atlantis DVDs, trying to decide which ep to watch.

I haven't looked through the TV Guide yet, but am super excited for the second season of Fringe. I hope for another season of Monsters inside Me and Bite Me with Dr. Mike. I was hoping for more Paranormal State. Ghost Hunters this season is not too exciting. I really don't like GHI, but Mum is looking forward towards Destination Truth, she's got a thing for Josh Gates.

I saw one SGU trailer which did interest me...Okay, the SHIP interested me but not the show itself. I am not a big Sanctuary fan but I'm going to sit through that. I gave up on Dollhouse but may catch up on that if I feel like it.

The boards at GW are scary lol I stay away from BBs now.

I'm with you on wanting MORE SGA...big time.

Supernatural for returning shows on network TV and SVU (I can't seem to stop) as well as Criminal Intent. Summer Glau has apparently moved to Dollhouse but that's not gonna get me to try it again. Nope. LOL

SGU - no especially not after having read about the love triangle WITH BODY SWITCHING involving LDP's character. Yes it's apparently a continuing story arc. :O! I can't, I just can't watch anything with that kind of thing unless it's a day time soap.LOL Good luck to you though. Our prayers go with you.

And I'm sorry for not say SPOILER for that bit above but regardless of the fact that I read it on an interview with LDP I just can't believe they would do that type of story line because it's so Dynasty, you know? So I was kind of wondering whether or not LDP was having it on with the interviewer? But then I thought Brad Wright and Joe Mallozzi and well, better safe than sorry.

I watched the CBS sneak peak at the coming season tonight and was surprised to see Medium has switched networks and will now be on Friday nights. I do like that one, so glad it's back. Also, I forgot all about The Mentalist, which is Must See TV for me. Yay!

Someday I'll get into Big Bang Theory. I always find it funny when I see it, but just don't watch sitcoms anymore for some reason. I'll have to check out Durham County. I like Hugh Dillon.

I haven't seen that promo yet, but love the ads for NCIS/NCIS-LA, although don't know if I'll watch the latter. Pilot bored me to death, but maybe show will be better.

NBC dumped Medium, so CBS grabbed, sorta the same situation as JAG.

Think Big Bang is the only sitcom I'll actually watch. Rest are pretty dreckful.

I liked the pilot a lot. I had a feeling the team was really settled, like they knew each other very well already. Usually, that doesn't happen in pilots of any kind so I'm really looking forward to the show. And the promo with Linda Hunt - "The only thing, this team is afraid of is..." And Linda Hunt pops up. Ha!

i dont know if you already mentioned this or not in the past few weeks, but the show "defying gravity' has been growing on me. i have been watcing on hulu, as i dont get cable/fios. and other than the name, i have enjoyed it. there are definety areas where i just laugh and say to myself, 'ok, for the shows sake i will just go along with this ridiculous premise/science/layout/plot line. because i do want to know what 'beta' is. but if this turns into Lost or something along those lines where you never learn, but they string you along and along, i am outahere.

also the title. cant stop seeing it and thinking, "WICKED!"

Yup, it's a good show, but not in the fall tv guide, which is why I forgot to list it. It is fun, it has its flaws (no sci fi show is perfect) but I like the charaters, although I keeping seeing the blonde lady as a grim reaper since she did that show "Dead Like Me" ;)

I can tolerate love triangles in scifi as long as the loser is eaten by a giant crab, but well, those days of excellent writing seem to be over ;)

There are no Defying Gravity eps listed after Sept. 13th. The word is that ABC is letting it quietly slip into that long good night. The ratings are really bad apparently.

If they had any sense they'd try again in the Fall or maybe move it to a new time? Why premier something like that in the middle of summer at 10, on a Sunday? Actually why premier anything at 10 on a Sunday that you want to survive? Somebody might decide to 'save' it, stranger things have happened.

I feel the same way about SGU. I'm willing to be persuaded; it helps that there's just not much competition, especially in genre shows. Flash Forward and V are the only new scifi shows that I have any interest in, and even then I'm not really excited in the same way that I was for Atlantis or Lost.

Gotta admit that none of the new shows scream "watch me!" although "V" comes closest. As for SGU, I'm so on the fence about it... I'll probably watch, but right now it's not clicking like SGA or SG1 did.
