Joe Flanigan interview

EXCERPT:

JF: Well, I did speak with somebody specifically at MGM about that and they said, "The SG-1 movies did well." And that SyFy wanted to be part of this and so what they tried to do is they did it with Caprica. And I think we sold something on the tune of 500,000 units and Caprica only sold 35,000 units. And MGM ...

GW: Really? Ark of Truth and Continuum totaled?

JF: I think so. MGM was reading that as a disastrous downturn in the DVD market. But I was telling them I don't think that's a good economic model at all. Because I don't think Caprica has any brand recognition like Stargate does. Nor do I think they have an existing fan base like Stargate does.

So, I urge them to reconsider that model because I don't think that's an accurate model of the DVD market. There may be a 15 to 20 percent drop in sales because of what's going on, but it's not going to be anywhere close to that. But that's the model they're looking at. So the way they see it, I think, is not good. Now, if the new show comes out and does well ... I don't know how that would affect the movies.

He misses the cast most. Bless his heart. You know that they've gotta miss each other like crazy after spending so much time together.
Love to hear that he's writing! He and The Hew should get together and bounce ideas off each other---especially since David seems to be writing too these days---at least from what his Twitter updates say.

Sweet, thanks. I hope for all the best for these guys because they deserve it, at least I think they do and I'd love to get the cast back together for a different show. I think a lot of people would tune in for it, for curiosity's sake if nothing else.

Joe- I would hug you if I could. It's nice to see his side of the story. Now if we could just get another show with him and Hewlett together....

do you think it would help....

Since he says he thinks the SG1 DVDs sold ~250,000 units each, do you think it would help if we all wrote MGM letters saying we'll buy an SGA movie if you just give us one? Of course, there's only around 40,000 hardcore fans between Twitter and Gateworld (assuming a fair amount of crossover between them), but maybe we could sextuple that number if we got our families involved as well? Wishful thinking, I know...

Odd how they could fine the $$$$$$ to do SGU when they
were whining about how broke the franchise was in order
to stay afloat with the SGA films
Mind you, this is after they had drummed them out
along with their fans........
It smells rotten. I don't give them any credibility
I particularly loved that part where JM was lamenting his
'ain't it horrible'
Didn't believe it then, and still don't

I'm glad Joe is having fun and spending more time with his family, but I'm still sad. Doesn't sound as if the movie will ever get made. :(
Love that he misses the cast the most... I would hug him if I could.
