No, not necessarily. The books have never been considered as being part of canon by the producers and writers of the show (Joe Mallozzi has expressed this on a few occasions in his blog) - in fact, there are canon errors in a few of them!
Recent news is that talks about the SG1 movie are moving forward. Of course, we have yet to see what that means! I think it's always been MGM's intention to release the SG1 movie first, so if that one gets greenlit and moving, hopefully they'll then turn their attention to the SGA movie.
Of course, their financial problems aren't helping - even holding up the next Bond movie and The Hobbit one as well - but I've not given up hope yet!
