Cancelling SGA was the beginning of the end, IMO. SGU had some promise until they tried to make it another form of BSG. That was when I knew the best thing for the Stargate franchise was to die.
The best thing that needs to be done is for it to stay dead for a while...maybe 5-10 years.
Bring a whole new group of people, most especially new writers, and start all over. In other words...a reboot.
Stargate needs a reboot in the future and hopefully the crowd that drove the franchise into the ground will have moved on by then.
