Stargate's demise was determined the moment they made the choice to end a proven series prematurely, dump their current fanbase, in hopes for greener, untried pastures. It blew up in their face. No SGU movie? Don't give a damn. And that'd be the same feelings for 99% of stargate fans. That's where TPTB screwed up. If they'd stuck with SGA, they probably could've milked the franchise for another few seasons at least, some movies, and more novels.
No ill feelings towards the cast of SGU, but definitely not feeling the love for BW, JM, etc.
