SGA/SG1 characters now on US Postage Stamps

Yup, Creation Con has glommed on to another market. They've converted Stargate into U.S. postage stamps (real ones - you can actually do this at some websites and put pictures of your pets, etc. on a stamp).

SGA cast
SG1 cast (10th season)

These are real 41 cent stamps you can use.... 10 stamps per page (which comes out to $1.29 per stamp, not including, uh, postage) Or you can go to the post office in late May and get the STAR WARS stamps at 41 cents each, no postage ;)

I sorta wondered who thought up the stamps. I mean, lost opportunities. Okay, ten stamps. This is what I would have done:

SGA: Sheppard, McKay, Weir, Teyla, Ronon, Ford, Caldwell, Wraith, Zelenka, Lorne

SG1: Jack, Sam, Daniel, Teal'c, Hammond, Mitchell, Vala, Jonas, Landry, Thor

As for the one character per stamp set... just Carter and Daniel (not that I'm griping about Daniel), but what equal opportunity time for Sheppard? or McKay? Do the folks who did this realize how many fans want to lick those characters? Ahem, cough cough.

What would you have chosen?

I think they would have been better if they had been different characters on each stamp. Hopefully they will make further sheets with single characters at some point - however, when Sheppard ones come out (hopefully), I won't be licking them, tempting as that is... :oP

That said, it didn't stop me impulsively bagging one of the 100 sheets of SGA ones...

Tempting though it is, I'm passing on the stamps. Will make due with pretty pictures, me thinks. Now, if they come out out with Shep or McKay stamps, I'm buying!

See, that is a good idea that I'd not thought of. The thing is, I have no rational reason to lick them - since they literally are a piece of paper as far as I'm concerned, living in the UK. And seriously, who licks stamps these days? (Self-adhesive stamps rule!)

If they bring out Shep ones, I'm so there. I just kinda liked the SGA ones...and it would be nice, just once, not to look like a one character/actor obsessive...

Smacks self. I still have some lickable stamps I'm not done with (once I figure out what denomination they are - they're makeup stamps). Yeah, forgot all about self-adhesive!

Still would definitely love a Shep stamp....

I don't think I've handled a lickable stamp in at least 3 years now. To be honest, the only place I've seen them recently are the Post Office in the counter sheets when I went in to post a couple of packages. And the counter clerk stuck them on for me. I remember when they first came out, one of my friends thought it was a new way that the books were made and licked a self-adhesive one. I almost died laughing.

Yeah, gotta have Shep ones. Maybe we should campaign for those.

You know what did surprise me? How cheap they were for something so limited...

No doubt about the price for personal use but I'll pick a couple up-definetly make for a nice one off gift for another fan at the office who I owe lunch-judging by their appetite I may come out ahead.

I have to confess to buying the New Zealand LOTR stamps, but those were official and cost nothing over and above their "value" other than postage--which was cheap.

I think I'm going to take some fan art I've made and go to the usps.com website and have them made myself. it's cool that they've jumped on the custom stamps thingy though :)

Hi I'm VP of Marketing at PictureItPostage.com. We are an authorized vendor of the U.S. Postal Service and are working with Creation Entertainment to create the Stargate stamps.

We agree with you....better to look at the stamps than taste them :) The Stargate stamps have a self adhesive on them so there's no licking required.

Heh, I'm one of the few people in the States who still has lickable stamps in the 'to be used' stamps envelope ;)

You know, you might want to do a survey on what fans want - I mean, a character per stamp would be a great idea for both SG1 and SGA down the road. I"d definitely buy an SGA set that had all the regulars (even those they kill off/remove) on a 10-stamp set :)
