I want Bates back too - but I'd think if there's an hearing, he ain't gonna be on Shep's side. The last we saw of him, he was dead set against Teyla being on Shep's team, and accused Shep twice of letting his personal feelings getting in the way. If it was Everett, sorry, that's boring - he would be defending Shep and I'd think the Outcast part would mean Shep's flying solo.
I'm almost done rewatching S1 with my son (who's now a big fan after JF signed his drawing) and I can't think of any other debilitating injuries - unless you count Grodin and that was one hell of an injury!!
