Season 4 Publicity shots for Stargate Atlantis (from newsletters/magazines)

 Some teensy shots off MGM and NBC newsletters.* Hopefully these will be, can we dare really HOPE?, full page ads in TV Guide or somewhere?? Anyway, this is the same shot you see at the end of some Stargate Atlantis ads somewhere on SciFi's schedule.



This one might be debatable as NBC has severed its contract with iTunes. Ouch.



Another version arrived in the mail (apparently, maybe they're gearing up to promote the show?) (Thanks to Sherry for this one)

Lastly, this is a shot of Carter in her new uniform. Yay or nay? Personally, I had no idea Carter was trying out for the roller derby. Ack. Oh god, I'm sorry, but in looking at the leather stuff on the knees, all I can think of is the Robot on LOST IN SPACE, waving its mechanical arms, screaming "Danger! Will Robinson! Danger!" I mean, sorry, but this uniform is, well, stupid. Unless she's going to be spending a lot of time on knees... filing, gardening, or on a roller derby rink.



Luckily, John Sheppard did not get dressed in the same duds (eh, it's just an excuse to post this picture in its big size) Much better uniform, although I seriously doubt we'll ever see the bootlaces tied properly, but eh, who cares?

It sure is :(

Carter will make the others look bad, not because she's so much 'better' than everyone else, but because the writers will write McKay as a petulant child like they always do when Carters about, but because they'll have Sheppard and Carter bicker and Carter can't possibly be wrong, can she?

She surely will. Her only fault is that she has no faults, and that is, what we call in fanfiction, the definition of a Mary Sue. She's perfect in all that she does, she's never wrong, she succeeds supremely at any task she attempts. She IS the quintiscential Mary Sue.

That is what bothered me most about her long about season 3 of SG1 and part of the reason I stopped watching. Her, and the fact that at some point RDA reduced himself to a recurring character, by his own choice. He got tired of traveling to Canada and had a new child at home in Chicago and wanted to be around more. Not that Canada's all that far from Chicago, but still...

Yea, I'm not holding out much hope that Carter will be killed off on SGA, especially given that she's got SG1 movies to do- can't have SG1 without her perfection present. *eyeroll*

RDA actually lives in Malibu and is a single dad, so I understand and respect his decision to leave.

What I'm hoping for on one episode, is for Carter to push something through (a mission, a test etc) against Sheppard and McKay's wishes, and for it to go really badly (I'm thinking it could be like Carter's version of 'Trinity') and for her then to have to apologise.

And Carter is most definitely a Mary Sue...kinda scary as the producers on that show seem to be allergic to female writers

While I do like Carter, I don't like what they always do to her. She's nearly perfect. I wouldn't say she IS perfect but she does very close to a Mary Sue. I'd like to see her humanized, to make mistakes, just like the rest of the gang in Atlantis.
