I do recall one fan over there stating that Shep should be courtmartialed or worse for the hair and I'm thinking, geez, it's TV and that's a bit extreme!

I seriously doubt that even in RL, the Air Force would CM a guy who's laying his life on the line IN ANOTHER GALAXY for something as trivial as his hairstyle...the Atlantis mission may have sent a psychologist along, but if they were THAT worried about maintaining military 'discipline', they should also have sent a barber!!
