Yup, CBS drove a stake through the heart of the Friday night vampir show MOONLIGHT. See, see. I said just last week, hey, this looks interesting. Kiss of death, I swear! Sorry...
But let me guess - Ghost Whisperer will still be around.
I know I pick on that show a lot but I honestly thought Moonlight a lot better than GW. GW is just... I don't know... too generic. I mean, it's okay and on occasion intriguing (while at other times makes me cringe) but of all the shows to be cancelled I thought that one a prime target.
But no. CBS, instead, feels the need to cancel shows such as Moonlight and (temporarily, thank goodness) Jericho. Both of which have a practical cult following. I just don't get networks sometimes.
GW got sold to both SciFi and WE last week, so it'll stick around. I must admit that yes, sometimes I watch it as it's so formulmatic (er, whatever) that I need something non-thinking on Friday night to recover from the week. But geez, the crap the networks keep is disgusting. However, guess that shows the intelligence of the folks who have Nielsen boxes :(
I feel bad for all the fans I know it started to get a following though to be honest besides being cute the actor didn't have the vampire 'look' to me or I would have watched it but I'm sad for the people who enjoyed it.
Did they say why? Were the ratings atleast decent?
A couple of different reasons - one being that even though it always won its timeslot, it was bookended by GW and Numb3rs, both with considerably higher ratings. Close to Home had the same timeslot last year with higher ratings and was cancelled. Although ratings were higher across the board then too...
Something else I read though said that CBS wanted WB to kick in more money toward the show, and they didn't come through. So more than one factor I guess.
I feel bad for the fans although I didn't watch it myself - it has a very passionate following and I know they're going to be heartbroken. Maybe another channel can pick it up? It might fit better into ABC's lineup possibly.
There are too many reality shows out there but the writer's shot themselves in the foot what that long drawn out strike. A ton of articles popped up recently showing that reality TV gained in the ratings despite Idol's drop off while all the returning shows garnered the lowest ratings in many seasons post strike.
I'm so peeved, it looked like it was a shoe-in. Yes, it won it's time slot, it was holding its own, and had developed quite a following and still that wasn't good enough. :(
First New Amsterdam, which, that one though I did think it was interesting, I can see it not making it. The story could've been a lot better, it was rushed, etc. But Moonlight quickly found its legs and really deserved a second season. I'm so irritated!
I'm not sure what they were thinking because its pretty obvious this show has a strong and growing fanbase. My 81 year old grandmother is a huge fan. She's actually going to stop her years-old practice of just leaving CBS on to protest the cancelation.
I thought it was Fox but apparently its spreading, this need to have instant sucess.
I always thought Moonlight is the light version of ANGEL, but I'm getting used to that show now... nothing else to see on Friday 9PM, beside jason Dohring is wonderful as Joseph *sigh*
And I hate Ghost Whisperer with a vengeance... argh! really can't stand JLH, and it replaced a cute show like Joan of Arcadia which, IMO is way better.
First Journey Man, then LIFE, then New Amsterdam, WMC, now Monnlight... it really is useless to like new shows... better stick with CSIs.... :(
Yup, heard it a couple of days back that Life had been renewed.
You're welcome. :) Imdb.com has a list on which shows have been renewed, cancelled and which new shows that have been announced for the Fall lineup (including some shows that seem so mindbogglingly out there - such as Crueso or The Philantropist...)
There's a real protest going on right now so it could be back. Many people are outraged.
I finally found something that me and my mom agree to watch (she doesn't like sci-fi that much) and now they had to go and cancel it! What losers! Let's just drive a stake through THEIR hearts!

If you ask me, there's way too many reality TV shows out there....
