Remembering September 11th....

It's the eighth anniversary of 9/11, so I thought I'd post about it. I went to the local 9/11 anniversary at the fire department, which comprised the police, fire, EMS and kin of those died in the tragedy. It was solemn, especially since it was raining and gray and windy, but uplifting just the same to see all the people.

This is my cat. This is my cat at the vet...

And yes, that's him in the LJ icon too! ;) anyway, took kitty to the vet for his regular shots, and just when he was about to get them, the vet got called into the back for an emergency, so I sat there for a while with the cat, who, actually, was a LOT calmer than when he was in the car (screaming every 2.5 seconds).

It's a cricket. Repeat, a cricket, not a cockroach ;) And very tiny, about the size of my fingernail, if that, but if you watch carefully, you can see his antannae are twice the size of his body. And the noise in the background is a TV commercial, and then, the cat (in video before this) yowling "feed me!"

Okay... bored? Nothing to do? Well, you can watch this video. Well, you actually don't need to watch, as it's pitch black, as well, it was black outside. I went outside one hot and humid night this past August and sat down, aimed the digital camera at the tree with the most tree frogs, and just recorded three minutes of frogs, crickets and whatever else might be out there. Maybe one day I'll get coyotes on sound. They are WEIRD! Like hyenas.
