Stargate Atlantis novel: Angelus
by Peter J. Evans

This is a snippet of a forthcoming SGA novel:

"So we're screwed." Ellis rubbed his chin, still glaring at the map. "We can't get a true picture of what's going on, and what we don't know could kill us."

"Yeah," Carter added grimly. "If the Wraith find out where Atlantis is, they'll swarm us. If the Replicators find out, they'll do worse. The city's long range sensors are great at picking up moving objects, but as for what those objects are doing... Righ tnow I feel like a kid caught up in a bar fight, hiding under the table. I can hear the pool cues on heads, but I don't dare stick my own head out to see where the danger is."

Ellis had been in a few bar rights in his time, although he had normally been wielding the cue. "But McKay says he's got a plan?"

"Hasn't he always?" Carter had smiled at him, briefly. "He's gone all retro on us. A series of early-warning sensors, dropped into these systems here..."

A listing is up at Amazon, but no details.

This looks to be the first novel based in season 4.

So...was Mirror Mirror #9 or #10? Because if this is #11 I'm missing one.

There is a #10...

SGA 10: Nightfall by James Swallow (paperback)
Due for release 25th November 2008.
In the distant Pegasus galaxy, the scientists and soldiers of the Atlantis expedition push back the frontiers of knowledge and exploration; in the city of the Ancients, new challenges and old secrets are waiting to be unlocked. Far from home, ranged against lethal enemies the Atlantis team must fight to preserve a distant outpost of humanity against impossible odds; but when the Nightfall comes, it will be like nothing they have ever encountered before...

Hoping to find more details on it..

There's also one by James Swallow listed for November this year (on Amazon UK, that is) called Nightfall (as well as an audio CD written by him and narrated by David Nykl sometime this year called Zero Point). Um, can't see any details on Nightfall, so no idea which season it is set.

Still awaiting Mirror, Mirror - it was suposed to be an early August release but my new delivery date says mid to late September now! Not fair!!

Angelus is stated as a December release...but the last couple or more have been delayed in the UK for some reason, so I don't hold much faith in the release dates any more!

I got my Mirror Mirror on July 31st, so, ahead of most people as I had received an order form in the mail and snail mailed it with a check. Who would have thought a check would be quicker? ;)

Well, funnily enough, Amazon UK told me that the delivery date had been pushed back to mid-late September...

...and guess what book I received this morning from them?

Yep, Mirror, Mirror came today! No email to say it had been dispatched, just one to say it would be delivered in September!!!

It seems you were lucky - and your cheque was quicker! (Though I do think it was delayed in its release over here).

Seriously- excited about this book. Not too excited about Ellis. But thanks for the info.

Angelus will be the second S4-era novel. James Swallow posted in the Ask the Authors thread on GW (http://forum.gateworld.net/showpost.php?p=8614258&postcount=1286) that Nightfall (scheduled for November 25, according to Amazon.com) will also be set in S4. I'm feeling kinda meh on the both of them.

I'm going to wait and see. I've read some season 4 fanfic that has been incredible. If season 4 had been written that way, well, wow, I would have loved it!

You and me both. Season 4 had so much wasted potential, it's sad just to think about it.

I think I've read somewhere that the quality of fanfiction is in reverse proportion to the quality of the source material. The worse the show or movie is, the better the fanfic is! LOL!

Well, I don't know. I've seen some pretty awful fanfic too! ;)

Right now I feel like a kid caught up in a bar fight, hiding under the table. I can hear the pool cues on heads, but I don't dare stick my own head out to see where the danger is.

Carter says this? Doesn't sound like her at all! Think I'll stick with fanfic. It's usually better than the novels. But thanks for posting this passage from the book. I wasn't aware until now that a November release was planned.
