Holy Hanna

Arch, stupid tropical storm Hanna. Fortunately, we did not get any of the high winds predicted, otherwise, there would have no electricity to power the wetvac needed to suck the water that came into the basement courtesy of the cellar stairs where the water just pooled up and over. Hmm, me thinks I need to get some huge rubber something to stick there to stop that (and mice!)

Otherwise, after sucking up water and having to wax another area that got wet, survived the storm. However, the driveway needs reshoveled. Sigh...

Sorry you got water in. We managed to avoid it. Although Hubby did have to outside during the height of the storm to dig a trench away from one of the basement windows and use the pool cover pump to pump out the window well. The water was almost to a level it might have come in through the air conditioner.

Wet Vacs are a gift from the gods. They have saved us so many times. Glad you have one!

I did go afterwards and stick the wheelbarrow directly over the front of the cellar door. It only filled half up, but when I had emptied it before, it was full, so we got a LOT of water.

Oh yes, wetvacs. Can't live without 'EM!!

Oh, sorry about the water! I hope nothing in the basement got damaged?

No, fortunately I hadn't recycled all the newspaper. They make great little dams when water comes in!

Awww, sounds like a mess. We didn't get any flooding, but we did lose power for a few hours, enough that we broke out the candles, but not so long that our food was damaged, though we did get ice. Not too much wind either. My mom did make me go out when it was raining to put out the trash though.

Ice?? Wow, I can sure wait for that! Luckily our trash got picked up that morning as otherwise, I'd be tying the trash cans to the tree. Not picking up trash all over the yard!

Wow. I feel bad all I got was a ton of rain. Though the winds from Hanna did blow down the spider web I put up for halloween.

Well, we were a ton of rain, but luckily no high winds, but I'm not fond of water seeping into the cellar. Crickets like it though.

Could you send some of it to our catchment areas. We could be looking at Stage Four restrictions :(

We needed the rain. Just didn't need six inches in a few hours! Alas, the weather pattern on the earth is getting so mucked up it's gonna be feast or famine soon :(
