Anyway, David Hewlett was in the Canadian drama "Traders" (about stock market folk) and he played Grant Jansky, the programmer geek genius type who makes Rodney McKay look as suave as James Bond ;) Yes, Grant works in a closet (at his own request) and I'm pretty sure I heard in one episode (it's been a while) he likes to be paid in chocolate. Yes, an oddball. Anyway, in this clip, a coworker, Donald (Rick Roberts) is trying to hook up Grant with a girl whom Grant really likes but is clueless on how to approach.

So, enjoy :)

Donald, yeah, that was the other character in the clip. I had to look it up but knew the actor as I'd seen him in movies.

I have about a dozen tapes, so have no idea which episodes or which seasons. I should watch 'em all and catalog 'em.

Only Season 1 has been released on DVD. **is sad** Last I heard, rumor-wise, was that it didn't do too well, so there aren't any plans to bring the other 4 seasons out on DVD.

In the first episode Grant appears, (ep 1x3, "Bad is Good"), derivatives genius Grant Jansky is coaxed out of retirement by Jack Larkin (David Cubitt, "Medium") when a bad deal puts the investment bank Gardner Ross in the hole for 2 million dollars and the company needs money quick. Grant doesn't want money, but Jack insists he has to be paid so Grant negotiates 50 pounds of chocolate a week as his salary.

There's an LJ community for Traders fics at http://community.livejournal.com/gardner_ross/

That was SO adorable. I love Grant. He makes me feel so socially apt. No horrific faux pas of mine has ever been that awkward.
And, of course, Hewlett is fantastic, in everything he's ever done. He probably even rocked the fourth grade play. :D

One of the dvd extras for David's movie "Nothing" is a "Making Of" video. You get to see some very short, grainy, black and white clips of highschool!David.

Gah, I wasn't finished with my thought!

David went to high school with "Nothing" director Vincenzo Natali. Natali was talking about how he started making movies when he was in high school and he cast David in his little movies and that's why the clips of David are there.
