David Hewlett & Kavan Smith at Armageddon (info + screencaps)

Well, I think a LOT of people tuned in for the live streaming of David Hewlett and Kavan Smith at Amargeddon (Auckland, New Zealand - Oct 25 2008) because the live streaming was hiccuping away all throughout the interview. It would just freeze up, then pop up and one of them would say "Well, there was this story" and then freeze again. ARGH!  Of cousre, the other interviews are going along swimmingly with no hiccups.

Some quotes:

Kavan: "We're the dark side of SG1."
They talked a bit about "A Dog's Breakfast." David said they used "the cheapest people they could find," and that he didn't know Kavan well enough at that point to ask.
David talked about the next film he's writing.
David said "I'm definitely old school Doctor Who--" and it froze.
Kavan talked about a show in which he did about one episode every year, but didn't specify ("Outer LImits"??)
David said to Kavan "I thought you called him Bobman," and I'm not sure what that was (kids?).
Kavan: "Obviously they didn't pay for David's headshots."
David talked about how he wanted to be a Time Lord as a kid.
Kavan talked about his time in Juvie (apparently he had a checkered youth) ;) and how one of the kids who was in Juvie with him was there cause the parents caught the kid doing something with a cow he should NOT be doing *cough cough*.
Both David and Kavan enjoy the Showtime series "Californication."
Kavan talked about something "quite long and quite embarrassing" (an audition, I think, for "Outer Limits").
They talked about remaining in character and David said something about snapping his fingers, like McKay, at a restaurant.
And they both got some 'swag' - free T-shirts - at the end of the interview.

Oh wow! I'm seeing those boys in Melbourne next week, and I'm now SO excited about it. I mean, I was excited before, but seeing them there in those caps makes me even more excited. Less than a week till I meet David Hewlett!! :)

Hopefully they post the interviews. At Peg3, Kavan did attempt to self-censor with a couple stories...but I can believe he was a troublemaker. Interesting with DH's comment about knowing Kavan - I guess they've gotten better acquainted - someone asked something similar at Peg3 and he commented that he was friends with DH primarily because his wife and Jane were good friends.

Holy cr@p, the stream was horrible, wasn't it? Apparently the stream people didn't expect the deluge of fans they would bring down upon themselves.

I haven't seen *ANY* of the 'couch' sessions posted but I might just be missing it(I'm hoping they get the idea it was popular and post it).

I got sooo ticked at the freezing(that is until my brain shut down) because I am trying to practice being calm, and rational. (lets just say that didn't go so well)

So apparently your tape recorder missed the part where Kavan started talking about his "Orgasm audition"{for Outer Limits- Caught in the Act}. I think I nearly hyperventilated myself to death with the brain overload, lol(Though I'm really sure the freeze right before that had been him holding his hands X distance apart).

Gosh, I think I am sooo screwed when it comes to meeting them in Burbank. If this is how I'm reacting to a VIDEO? Yup, I'm toast.

i had the exact same problem. i remember them also saying something at the beginning about recycling the plastic bottle that kavan wouldnt give up. and i remember looking at david's shoes alot. wondering if they were the shoes from the show. because looking was about all i got. about 8 secs. then freeze for about 20 secs, then come back for about 3 and then skip ahead about 30.
looked also for their wedding bands. what do actors do with them when they are shooting? do they take them off every morning? or what? do they sometimes forget to take them off? or lose them? i dont think that i've ever seen JF with one on.
i know,lame. but there wasnt much else to do while not watching the interview.

Lol, when I watched it last nigh I had 3 seconds of normal picture for 30 second of freeze up, after 10 minutes I just gave up , so I'm also hoping they will put it online ;).

*LOL* Yeah, me too. I, too, got a few things and just when it seemed to get interesting...freeze-up. Very annoying.

Though I am pretty sure the juvie things ought to be taken in the same way as the "I-met-my-wife-on-a-camel-track...". Given what I know of Kavan, that was either his way of avoiding a question he didn't want to answer or his just fooling around a bit, which he and David seemed to be doing a lot.

Btw, did anyone get the part where he explains the meaning of his name?

Thanks for sharing! I'm so relieved to find out it wasn't just my computer hiccuping and locking up throughout the broadcast. If no one got a smooth transmission, maybe they'll make a downloadable version available.

I think the bottle comment was either David or the interviewer telling Kavan he could fill his empty bottle up with vodka, and Kavan replying "again?"

That Outer Limits trauma story makes me wonder if Kavan recently turned down a movie role because it involved nudity. He mentioned it in an interview I read not too long ago, and if he's repeating it again it seems like it may be fresh on his mind for some reason - odd for a brief TV role he filmed 13 years ago.
