A little dissection of the episode. Full of spoilers, etc. etc.

Okey-doke.... "Remnants." I'd say that the Woolsey story was the main story, and I think I saw Teyla and Ronon. Ah yes, they were at breakfast, twice. Darn. Anyway, being a Shep whumper the Shep story was what I was fascinated by... loved Sheppard's "Lorne warned me about you" to Dr. Parrish (and I can only guess he took the trip to the mainland because he was interested in the female scientist who was babbling away about plants?

But the whump. I really sorta thought, being a bloodthirsty whumper *cough cough* that hey, you hack off a hand, and unless you superglued or plastic-wrapped the stump, there's going to be some bleedthrough. Ack! And while Kolya was using Sheppard's face as a punching bag, I heard from another part of the "oh, there goes a xygomoid (or whatever) bone". Ah, watching whump with an EMS worker is... interesting! ;) Then hearing about blood loss and shock.

Personally, I would have loved a lot more on Shep, and hey, the fans have nailed it on the head with Shep beating himself up. I can now hope to (please please please) wallow in some great fanfic to flesh out that part. I mean, the psychological repercussions should be there. Woolsey, well, he'll probably wonder who's he's talking to and if they're real, and the fact that Zelenka wasn't real was good. I hadn't really thought that!

Some of the editing was chopping. On Atlantis, a few seconds of Sheppard walkling and then back to the control room and it was like "whhaaa???"  I would have loved for this to have been a purely Shep episode, but well, guess beggar's can't be choosers.

I liked it, but I would have liked it more if I hadn't figured it all out ten minutes into the ep :/

well, yeah, there was that too.... I suppose my lack of expectations for the show this season help me not be too vastly disappointed, well, as long as the great fanfic writers fix the mess ;)

Am I begging too much for fanfic from this episode?? ;)

I like the fact that they're not only stealing from themselves, they're also ripping off the fanfic we put out two years ago. Go SGA! ;)

Also, I have amputation issues, which I just figured out tonight. Thanks so much, Mallozzi.

My friends laughed at me when I saw that Mallozzi was one of the writer and said, "Oh, good - lots of plot holes to write tags to." =^.^=

If he wrote half as good as he thinks he does.... Ow. I think I dislocated an eyeball with that eye roll.

No fair with the fakeout on the whumping. Don't they realize we only have 5 potential whumping episodes left before our supply is cut off? Priorities, people!

Oye, I had the fun of sitting there trying to explain back story to people while watching this(what I wouldn't give for some peace and freaking quiet!).

I wasn't overly impressed with the ep and in reality was just bleh.

I can't wait for next weeks with my awesome favorite guy on the planet in it!

Yeah, the whump just fell flat. You know me, research! I'm sitting there going...that bandage is WAAAAY to clean. Where's the blood???

Speaking of blood...I think you owe me story. ;-)

*whistles innocently*

It is driving me NUTS where have we seen that Australian chick before????

I have to say, the longer I see "Dick" the more I like him. :-) Xiox (Or how ever the closed captioning spelled her name) is evil, but we knew that. She's IOA. It is me or is the IOA getting stupider??? Or is it more stupid?

I think I'm one of the few in the fandom going...ohhh!!! McKay/Keller ep!!! Yay! I am, really. I think they are adorable.

and BILL NYE!!!! WHOO!

SG1's Scorched Earth (anyone surprised that Mallozi/Mullie wrote it?) had unnatural sex with SGA's Phantoms (a far superior story written by Carl Binder) and we got Remnants.

I wish Mallozi/Mullie would admit they can't come up with a new storyline to save their lives, quit trying to write and stick to producing. But, no, according to JM's blog they're pitching stories for SGU. ::head-desk::

Mallozzi has too much arrogance and ego to admit he's out of ideas.

Since they used the "chop off the hand" bit in the trailer, I pretty much went into it thinking it was all a hallucination or a dream or whatnot. I thus caught all the little nuances with Zelenka too ("We should concentrate on the data"). It made it quite a different experience than I suppose JM wanted to give.

Did he really think any fan would be fooled by this?

And to add insult to injury, I am willing to flat out state that even the non-hallucinated players acted mostly out of character in this one. Le sigh.

Me too! I'm going to forget last night's mess and just look forward to next week. Not to mention McKay in a tux. :swoon:

THAT"S the episode! I was thinking last night, I've seen this before.... yeah, "Scorched Earth."

You know, yes, this plot will get recycled into SGU. I'd lay a bet, but the odds are so stacked that it will happen I wouldn't win much...

I think next week's ep may be Sheppardless (but I hope not!) but on hte McKeller stuff. If it's in the background, no problem. I'm just not a big fan of any ship being the focus of an episode. Like Jason Momoa said at the recent con, that kind of stuff is boring ;)

Ah, crud, I accidentally erased my Friday the 13th with David Hewlett. *bangs head on keyboard*

You make several hundred episodes of a show, some ideas and storylines are bound to come up again. To be the original, positive and non snarky fan, I liked this one very much. Finally it wasn't about blowing things up, or Michael (again). It got me thinking 'what's actually going on here?' from the start, and kept me wondering until the end. I love it when they mess with my head a little, and make me ponder.

As for details like clean bandage making it more unreal; perhaps that was half the point, eh? ;)

I took a little more than ten minutes, I think, but not much!

I told Brilliant Husband at the end I knew a better "and you tortured yourself" fanfic, but it was SG-1 and not SGA! (But I think telling the title would be a giveaway, because I did not realize what was happening was in the character's head for a looong time, unlike last night's episode!) I have every confidence fanfic writers can do better than Mallozzi & Mullie!

They're keeping the whole same team of writers... the real question is, : what episode is NOT going to get recycled ?
Probably only 48 hours, 38 minutes and the episodes that have the gate as a central character, since, you know... there won't really be a stargate in Stargate universe...

And the odds are so bad you would actually have to go back to your bookmaker and give him some money on this bet :p

It could have been better, but for a JM-penned episode, it was decent. Yeah, I have lowered my expectaitons whenever I see his name on a script.

Favorite guy? Bill Nye?

well, zelenka I didn't guess, but I think part of that was because I'd seen David Nykl at a con less than a week before the episode and he was such a nice guy, I was just thinking, oh, Zelenka is much nicer than McKay ;)

But chopping off a hand is a bit severe, so yeah, had to be a hallucination or something.

Well, in some instances, the recycling of scripts is so horribly apparent (same plot line, etc.) that you know it's just laziness.

As for the clean bandage, I think that was a censorship thing (how much blood could they show) because Sheppard, having been in the military for decades and seen enough action in the Middle East, well, there's no such thing as a clean bandage on an amputation in the field. Even one or two spots would have been nice. Ack, must stop watching Discovery channel..

Favorite guy- yes, Bill Nye.

I actually used to know him quiet well when he was in the Seattle Area. He used to be on a little local show called "Almost Live" back in the '80's and '90s that was very kitschy local humor(you'd have to be from the area to get it type stuff).

He also used to do a lot of local 'shows' at Elementary schools, and such, so I met him several times at those type of events. Very very cool man.

After seeing David's recent Twitter(from yesterday) I can only almost hope that he convinces him to drop by the con *cue evil laughter*.
