This is from this past week's Burbank, CA Stargate Atlantis convention

http://stargate-sg1-solutions.com/blog/?p=2197

" Rachel Luttrell said no one on the cast has been officially contacted about the Stargate Atlantis movie, and it’s only through the grapevine that they’ve heard it might be filmed next June. So, they are not at the point of negotiating contracts. Both Rachel and David seemed disappointed there was nothing definite yet."

Well, that sucks! Sigh...

It would be nice if the SGA officials would let them know when they were filming so that they could block out the time while negotiating their other jobs because people have to eat :P I, too, am disappointed that the movie plans aren't more definite yet since it keeps feeling like Wright and Cooper and the rest of them are all "ooh, bright, shiny" over SGU and forgetting the rest of us.

Wow... if filming is supposed to start in such a short time, wouldn't these things usually be organised by now? But from the sounds of things, it hasn't even been written yet. No wonder my optimism is waning somewhat... *sigh*

TPTB are gonna have a riot on their hands if the main cast isn't signed or can't do the movie! You'd think by now they'd have worked out the logistics and had filming dates set. I agree - SGU is the new baby and the older kids are being neglected :(

I'm, alas, not very surprised.

Given how they let go of SGA like an old smelly sock and the fact that they keep blaming everything but their own failing for the fact that it didn't do what they wanted (I do wonder what exactly they did want...), I thought for a while that the movie deal wasn't even going to happen.

And then they kept saying it would, but to be honest I still have my doubts. Maybe if the new baby SGU fails (as it is wont to do), they'll realise that throwing out the old isn't always a good idea.

Mind you, if they do a movie along the same line as last week's episode, they might as well do nothing,I'd rather see nothing of Stargate Atlantis than see "the fabulous adventures of the fantastic Jennifer Keller in Atlantis (Stargate, Teyla, John and Ronon optionals... )".

Honestly, I'll be surprised if there's a movie anytime soon. Might happen eventually, but I think it was more of a sop to try to shut fans up over the series ending. "Don't worry, we'll wrap everything up with a bow in the movie!"

Judging from comments about the more recent episodes with less than a handful to go before the end, I think the present will be yet another recycled script gift with no real feeling behind it. Perhaps there'll be a shiny bow on top, but that doesn't change what's inside.

I think the original idea was to use an SGA movie and airings of the SG-1 movies as a "bridge" to the premiere of SGU, but they're so focused on the new baby, everything else has become the red-headed stepchild.

I've had a feeling since Atlantis got canned that this movie would never be made...they'll push it back for SG1 and SGU and they'll push it back til the cast are no longer available and then they'll shelve it and blame the actors.

And then there's the renewed threat of a Screen Actors Guild strike to consider. Maybe they're dragging their feet because they want to see how that unfolds (of course, a strike will screw up SGU as well, haha).

But... yeah. Atlantis was the red-headed stepchild when SG-1 was still on, it stayed the red-headed stepchild even after SG-1 went off the air, and it's still the red-headed stepchild now that they've got a new baby. Argh.

Of course, given that Mallozzi and Mullie are penning the SGA movie, I really don't hold any hope that it'll be good.

This movie always felt like a lame excuse for the cancellation. If they wanted it successful, then there would be a different team of writers.

I am wondering: How many months were between the wrap of SG-1 and the first movie? I didn't watch the backgrounds of the shows then I have no clue. Maybe 4 months?

The disorganisation is leaving me worried. I thought the movie was a certainty, but now not so much.

TPTB are so worried about BabyGate getting it's fat butt off the ground, they don't have time to get going on the movie yet! Jerks!!!

Maybe they don't need to deal with negotiations because all of the main cast was already under contract for a sixth year. I believe David Nykl said in NJ that he's already been signed for the movie, and Kavan said he was in negotiations...so there's some hope anyway.

Too bad they couldn't have the movie ready to premiere/promote at ComicCon. As if they'd care anyway. :\

Are you surprised? I'm not, I've noticed on JM's blog that if anyone picks on certain things he gets VERY defensive.
