Joe Mallozzi posted at his January 6th blog tonight on Stargate Universe auditions...

The laptop turned out to be of less importantance as we spent most of the day watching casting streams. So far, we have our Rush, Young, and Eli (official announcements on the latter two to come later this week). And, after today’s session, it looks like we may have our Tamara. We have two terrific candidates for both Scott and Stasiak, and a very likely Chloe. Otherwise, a fairly quiet day. Given recent developments, the writing staff now numbers five, but there is talk of adding at least one more newbie to the mix in addition to freelancers.

So, we'll see what they end up with. It's interesting that well, NOW they're adding to the writing staff with a possible new staff member and freelancers? Ah, sigh, if only they'd done that with Stargate Atlantis. Still think they should have kept Ken Cuperus...

And, well, yes, being selfish, wish we'd a little more blogging on the SGA movie since he IS writing that one.

yeah, they really should have kept Ken Cuperus.

They seem really to put more in to SGU than SGA. But they never can get a replacement of Atlantis City, a city which rose from the ocean and can move to a different planet.

Nope, and unfortunately a ship going through space, been there, done that - Star Trek.

Now that it's all over anyway I can say that I doubt individual writers could have made a difference, there was just no overall direction, creative or visionary or just - unifying and directing things.

Well, sometimes an individual writer could give you a gem of an episode, but I do agree on the direction part.

I totally agree about Ken Cuperus! [livejournal.com profile] d_odyssey and I always mention him with fondness.

It was their narrow mindedness and unwillingness to let in outside writers that lead to...well, S5. (Even though I found something to like about most of the eps.) They just gave Gero too much power, and the whole thing was like an incestuous boys club.

Blogging about the SGA movie will just be frustrating, due to his continuing refusal to acknowledge the existence of Joe Flanigan. *g*

I'll admit, I'm curious who they'll cast for SGU.

What [livejournal.com profile] nakedwesley said. The minute they let Gero write his fantasies for his dream woman and take over the direction of the show, the season was screwed. "Incestuous boys club" is right. I just wish the show runners, Mallozzi and Mullie, would have acted as bosses rather than buddies and vetoed the arc of season 5.

Ken Cuperus rocked - Common Ground enough said. They needed new blood desperately and now it looks like BW/RC are brave enough to do it. Brave enough or they started looking at the scripts/ideas and were desperate.

First I wish Binder was writing the SGA movie or Wright or Cooper. I wish Mallozzi were concentrating more on the movie so it will get made sometime soon. It is frustrating that he hasn't said anything about it. Hell, he didn't even acknowledge Joe Flanigan's birthday Monday, though he made sure to mention Paul. Grrrr!

Unfortunately that boys club is still going to be running things. I don't know why they even bother with women characters. NONE of them know how to write for women characters.

If they knew how to write for women, Weir would have never been replaced.
