Yes, the power company killed the cable box. Don't know how, and it doesn't speak well of the integrity of the box itself, but several minutes after the second showing of Stargate Atlantis ended, the TV went wonky, fuzzyish- not the TV, the VCr, the DVR, nope, spend far too much time checking, which left the box. So I had to call cable about it (and you know how that goes - you're on hold so long you start falling asleep or forget why you're on hold). They couldn't fix it from their end so I had to drive all the way down (ack, on a Saturday morning, hideous traffic), stand in line, get new box, drive home, plug it in, wait wait wait and then "i'm sorry, but this box is not authorized." Gah! So I had to call them, get on hold again for a long time, and then they finally connected and activated it. Ah, cable again, only wow, there's really not much of a rush to watch anything.

Oh crap, this was not your weekend. It's bad enough that Stargate is over, but to have to suffer thru the cable co and the power co... there is no justice. I am sorely pissed (STILL) that the Sci Fi channel thinks they can generate more revenue by programming to 20 year olds. Last time I checked, they made less money that 35-40 who are the key demo for this genre!! It's like I want to sit down and quiz this youngsters just make sure they don't embarass the sci fi genre. Essential questions should be:

Who was the Captain of the Enterprise?

Who said "Would somebody get this walking carpet out of my way"?

Before Micheal Shanks played Daniel Jackson, this actor played him in the original film...what was his name?

I don't mean to be demeaning to the age group, but I feel betrayed by a channel who thinks it knows its audience. I am seriously going to miss the show.

The thing is everybody does think that catering to the 20 year old market will make money. In some respects, it does. Young people are really pretty stupid when it comes to money. They think it will last forever, or that they don't need to save for a rainy day. Those are the folks advertisers want. and face, half won't live to 50 if they eat those two pound cheese pizza things I've seen advertised. heart attack on a plate! ;)

I'll watch the channel with the occasional flick if it's got an actor in I want to see. I'll watch Eureka but then again, I may just rent it on DVD instead. Avoid all the ads.

Lately, all they have on are reality and horror shows for the most part. So what is left for the rest of us???

Good point. I imagine giant anacondas and stupid crap like that is cheaper than visualizing an intelligent and visually stimulating series. If I recall correctly, the whole reason Sci Fi network canned Atlantis was due to rising costs...they needed to find cheaper stars. So THAT'S what happens when you become successful. And I got to say that the Sci Fi channel is the LAST channel I thought would do a stupid ass reality game show, but the costs are 1/3 of a creative show that requires actual actors, writers, and production.

Oh, you got that right. B movies also are cheep to make or buy to put on as well, so between reality TV, wrestling and crappy horror movies, we got a whole lot of nothing and pay a lot of money to watch it!!!

Yes, wrestling! Stargate Atlantis/SG-1 Action figures aside, wrestling is just so wrong on a science fiction channel!
