Interestingly enough, John Scalzi, scifi author and now creative consultant to Stargate Universe, has a blog (Scifi-scanner) over at the AMC Website

He hasn’t said a thing on Stargate Universe, but does talk science-fiction. If nothing else, an interesting read, and we’ll see how his attitude translates into work on show. Meanwhile, I'm a few chapters into his first book, Old Man's War. Decent. so far. I'd read more if I wasn't always interrupted!

I'm part of the demographic they're targeting and so far ---I'm giving it a shot because I don't think it would be right for me to just give up on the franchise. But damn, the creators could be a little more subtle about how they obviously threw Atlantis out the window for this show.

If SGU doesn't click for me, it doesn't bother me to leave the franchise as a fan. I've done it before with Trek. I can't see wasting my time watching something I don't like... A helluva lot will depend if the writers can deliver on all their hype.
