Interestingly enough, John Scalzi, scifi author and now creative consultant to Stargate Universe, has a blog (Scifi-scanner) over at the AMC Website

He hasn’t said a thing on Stargate Universe, but does talk science-fiction. If nothing else, an interesting read, and we’ll see how his attitude translates into work on show. Meanwhile, I'm a few chapters into his first book, Old Man's War. Decent. so far. I'd read more if I wasn't always interrupted!

Deliver....on....all the hype??!!

........

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Despite Scalzi being a "creative consultant" and freelancers being hired for an episode here or there, these are still basically the same people who brought us the the last few seasons of SG-1 and then SGA.

Leopards don't change their spots, I'm sorry to say. So they can hype this all they want and I'll watch because it at least sounds interesting, but if people are expecting something revolutionary or extraordinarily different then they're dreaming.

Me? Cynical?

Regrettably, you're probably right. I think they'll constrain themselves in all the wrong places and we'll get very little that's new.
