Stargate Universe: John Scalzi

Interestingly enough, John Scalzi, scifi author and now creative consultant to Stargate Universe, has a blog (Scifi-scanner) over at the AMC Website

He hasn’t said a thing on Stargate Universe, but does talk science-fiction. If nothing else, an interesting read, and we’ll see how his attitude translates into work on show. Meanwhile, I'm a few chapters into his first book, Old Man's War. Decent. so far. I'd read more if I wasn't always interrupted!

David Hewlett was the only one I'd heard of in Atlantis (oh and Torri Higginson) but the whole team grabbed me straight away. The cast have not grabbed me :(

I do like some of the cast, having seen them previously, but... the characters aren't grabbing me yet either, nor the prospect of being stuck on a ship (shades of "Voyager"). Will have to wait and see what happens, but it's not a 'must watch live' thing yet.

David Hewlett was the only reason I decided to watch, but then went, whoa, who is this Joe Flanigan? However, with much of the cast being so young (well, to me), don't know if any will grab me as much.
