I'd read somewhere he spoke some French and yeah..um very hot.

Also after seeing Travelers a pal pointed out that the way he held his fork and knife was very European but I have no idea if that's right.

But thank you...GUH

That comment made me actually watch the end of Traveler again right now (yes, I'm *that* pathetic and apparently also have nothing better to do on a Friday morning at 8 am). Looks perfectly normal to me. Someone who is very hungry, eating quickly in the company of some friends, using fork and knife in a normal way without bothering to display any "special manners" in using them. Does it look different from the way knife and fork is used in your corner of the world? :-)

Most Americans cut food with the knife in the right hand and fork in the left and then switch the fork to the right hand to eat (after putting down the knife). Europeans are more economical in their movement - they use the fork in their left hand and leave the knife in the right and cut out the cutlery shifting.

Ah, I see what you mean. I've seen the "cutlery shifting" done here occasionally as well, though it's usually not common in public places such as a mess hall, cafeteria, restaurants etc.

I didn't know that it was a widely-used way of handling cutlery in the US. In this case it looks as if kristen999's friend was right. *G* You learn a new thing every day.

Thank you so much for clearing this up for me. :-)

I'm American, but have always used the European way. Just easier. Shifting utensils seems a waste.

My pal pointed it out. Joe is right-handed, but uses his fork in his left hand which she said was European. Typically, if you're right handed you use your fork in your right hand..at least here.

I could be wrong but it made sense to me when she pointed it out.

BTW, have not forgot about your PM, just been swamped this whole week.

Ah, that's why I didn't see anything unusual in the way John handles the cutlery in the scene in question. Your pal is right, fork in the left hand, knife in the right hand, that's what's considered well-mannered/well-behaved around here, no matter which hand you usually prefer personally.

I didn't even know that it's different in the US and find it interesting to learn about this. Thanks for letting me know. :-)

As you see, being in fandom is pretty educational. ;-)

As for the PM, don't worry, you don't have to respond if you don't have the time, that's not why I sent it. Just thought you'd perhaps like to know - and there are way, way more interesting things about the event out there. *g*

Hi wraithfodder, thanks for this. You find the best stuff, my dear. He is so cute, adorable, I love it.You made my crappy day better.

Oh and the fork-knife question. I'm european and yes, we hold and eat with the fork in the left, knife in the right. I thought everybody do it that way. Didn't know there are differences between the countries. LOL
