I really like Joe Flanigan. Really, I do. But. But... $500 (opening bid) for cocktails with him? And this isn't you and him, it's you and other fans, so if one is really obsessive, you've paid $500 to be a doormat...

Starting at $500 and you can put it on a payment plan! But hey, you get *snacks*. The whole ala carte pricing of this con would kill me. I mean the gold ticket is something like $500, then if you want set tours, more, and photo ops, and autographs and well, best wishes to those who can afford this. I only would hope they'd post about it on the web for the rest of us to live vicariously through them...

Yeah, I'm going to the con itself with a gold ticket, but this is ridiculous. I'm not doing any of the extras (save a few photo ops), because most of the prices just sound like huge ripoffs, and I usually have more fun hanging out with friends in the halls or the lobby. :p

I agree, if I paid 500 bucks for an evening with Joe, I'd want a sit-down dinner or something. A few snacks and 2 drinks for 500 dollars? Ridiculous.

Joe getting something?

Let's do some math kids LMAO!! Five hundred dollars times nine guests equals forty-five hundred dollars, Uhmmmm Joe pays more than this per week for Aiden and Truman's educations, So Therefore I say RRRRRRRRROTFL, if they pay Joe anything I'm sure it might cover his flight and hotel, maybe!!!!!!

(I'm sure he does cos I pay almost that much per month for my nephew's education and we live in Southern Oregon, not Malibu!!!!)

I think creation needs to be SHUT DOWN so that the fan clubs can go back to running the conventions, cos they were soooooooo much better back then!!!!!

What kills me about this is that NONE of the money will go to charity -- it will all go into the pockets of the convention company.

If you were rich

You wouldn't need a confounded cretin con, you could eat dinner with him in Bu!!!

We're okayish right now, being property owners and such, we took out a second mortgage to get thru the financial crisis but we lost money in the stock market. I really thought we'd be fine if we just didn't sell anything, then I lost my job, and so on and so forth. Me a dumb American ROTFL!!

PS, it actually costs less to go to Bu and hand out and stuff than to go to one of these stupid cretin cons. God I hate those people LMAO!

People are stupid. Either that or they have too much money.

You're assuming they'll go for $500. I bet there are more than nine people who'll want them. Expect end prices more in the thousands.

TBH, it was more an observation that he would actually get paid something, unlike a secondary who shall remain nameless who didn't even get a percentage of the extra autographs and photo ops at last year's con, just a flat-rate fee while Cretin were raking it in off people buying extras.

Also, the event usually pay for the actor's flights (business or first) and hotel as part of the deal, in addition to the fee.

While people keep paying Cretin thus validating their existence, they aren't going nowhere.

ok, i am very tired and it was a long day, long long day and really the sleep meds should have dealt with the insomnia by now....but still here i am reading about private upclose time with Joe Flanigan. the yummy Joe. people arent stupid and i dont think they are thinking they are rich. and i think not one of the bidders are thinking of the con company and their greed. nope. the bidders are thinking about SEX. and how JF is, like, walking SEX. there is a reason why so many of us men and women (mostly women) have pixs of Joe on our computer. and our screensavers. and our desktops. and our icons (guilty, guilty, guilty, and oh yeah, guilty) and for some on the cubicle wall. and i think i read somewhere that one woman has a picture of him on her bedside. and her husband is ok with that. nope, the bidders will be thinking not with their wallet or their budget, but about JF and sex. and that thinking of JF, beard or no beard, in person, looking yummy, just like that beach picture -yeah, you know the one.
what's that line from that really stupid song from the '90's.......oh, yeah. me so horny.

like i said, long day, insomnia, meds.
going to bed wishing i had $2000 to spend just to be with Joe Flanigan. sigh. off to bed now, thinking of Joe. niters all!

That's just CRAZY!!!
Starting bid of $500? I really like Joe but I just couldn't pay that much for some "lubrication" and snacks! I suspect the bids will be in the thousands in no time.

I really wanted to go to this Con b/c it's the closest in terms of where I live (Alberta.) But couldn't justify the cost and I have final exams to prepare for. Now...if this Con were to happen after I get my degree, got a well paying full time job...no, I still wouldn't shell out the cash (too many other things to pay for.) People need to stop paying these prices so organizers will rethink the price point, sadly that will never happen as long as there is demand.

Can I also ask for a Con report and some pics from the lucky people going? Pretty please? Thanks! I'll bake you cookies! :)

Not sure what the going price will be since they have not set it up yet. Be interesting to see when the time does come as to what it will start at.

Wasn't this done at Chevron this year? I don't like Creation, but I can't say this is their idea. They're just using it. And to be honest, if I had the money (which I don't) I'd pay for it. To be that close to Joe, Oh yeah.

From: [identity profile] lysambre.livejournal.com
This was done at Chevron, and with only 400 or so attendees they got up to £200, so no doubt they'll go really high for Vancouver.

All I hope is that for once, one of the person able to pay for this will be nice enough to share instead of becoming snob about it and say things like : "Oh, well, I'm not comfortable saying what he told us, you know some of it was quite private..." To which I always feel like answering : the only difference between you and I is that you have more money, get off your high horses, what he "shared" with you is what he would share in public anyway, do you think he's stupid ?

I'd rather they be honest and say : "You know what, I paid for it, you didn't, I don't want to share because it's my little bubble of personal happiness." I would have so much more respect for them.

Shore Leave is a convention just north of Baltimore. It's always the first full weekend after the Fourth of July.

For Stargate, Shore Leave has Jason Momoa, Rachel Luttrell, Robert Picardo, Christopher Heyerdahl and Michael Welch. Other guests are Ethan Phillips (Star Trek Voyager), Kevin Sorbo (Hercules, Andromeda), Adrienne Wilkinson (Xena, Star Wars) and Jasika Nicole (Fringe).

Jason Momoa, Rachel Luttrell, Robert Picardo, and Ethan Phillips will sign one item for no additional charge during the Official Autograph Sessions on Saturday and Sunday.

Wow! $500 is a lot to pay. I think he should be up closer and more personal for that money!

(Some fans are happy to pay that much though. Apparently some dinners with Amanda Tapping have gone for many thousands of dollars)

Pronably shouldn't say this but while I was repping an actor at one of these cons he managed to 'fix' this particular issue by signing anything and everything that was presented to him at any time during the con. Made sure that the Cretin Con queue for autos was nice and short. Heheh.

I saw on Creation's page that Amanda Tapping had the same deal. Her time is 1:15 to 2:15 on Sunday. You also get snacks, even though that's lunch time (to me, anyway).

Amanda's bids started at $450 and ended at $901.50. That's 9 people who bid that. Whoa.

Only ever went to one Creation Con and it was the most dull, soul less and boring con ever. Would never, ever consider one again.

I don't know about calling people stupid. If they have the have the money good for them. If it was some pro-football player at an NFL event the things would easily go for thousands more and no one would bat an eyelash.

Diff passions for diff people. *shrugs*

Yeah, but oddly enough, if a fan spends thousands to watch a sports game, nobody thinks "oddball," which they do if you say you spent that same sum to see an actor. Of course, all these conventions keep a lot of people in business ;)

Exactly. People pay thosands for sports events and at the event there was a bid to have 'snacks' with one of the players..how many credit cards would be coming out?

If I had the money I'd do it....why not.
