The last few weeks have been... ugh.

First, David Carradine dies. I really enjoyed him in Kung Fu and was shocked. It was a senseless death (sigh) and reminded me too much of when Jon Erik Hexum died (playing with a gun on the set). When it was announced Ed McMahon had passed, I wasn't so shocked because I knew he'd been rather ill, and the same with Farrah Fawcett, but now Michael Jackson? Wow, that came out of the blue! I suspect the stress of the show he was putting on, debt, lawsuits, etc. etc. just killed him. When  heard that EMTs had worked on him for 41 minutes (or thereabouts), I said, he's dead. Most CPR does NOT work, contrary to the miraculous resurrections on TV dramas.

Then I go fold the wash, and come back to rumors that Jeff Goldblum (Jurassic Park, Law & Order) had fallen off a cliff in New Zealand while making a movie and was dead. I'm like, oh good grief, who makes up this crap? And oh yes, Harrison Ford's yacht sunk as well and hes' fish food. Geesh, now if they'd said his Piper Cub had gone down, that would have been more believable.

Meanwhile, actor Kevin Spacey laid rest to the Jeff Goldblum rumors on his twitter (which is real, verified, etc.)

Jeff Goldblum is alive and well. I just spoke to his manager. Stop these stupid rumors.

Wow, people have just gone nuts, and the idiots are starting rumors.

I loved Jon Erik Hexum! I was totally mourned his death...didn't believe it at first. He was so young and healthy...how could he have died? That was a huge loss. It was sad that we never got to see what else he would do. -Diane

When Jon died, that was just so bad. I think he could have gone pretty far, and my god, he was Greek god gorgeous too. I still have his poster in the attic...

It's all extremely sad from the real deaths to the fake ones.

It's pretty detestable for anyone to create rumors like that.

People can be counted on to do stupid stuff.

I feel very sorry for both their family. It's bad enough to deal with a loss, but all this other crap?

After david carradine died, and i saw the crap people left in comments on articles on him, it doesn't surprise me anymore. Some people are just insensitive idiots. Sigh.

It had been estimated he had not been breathing for about ten minutes prior to the EMT arriving and was unresponsive. At that moment I knew he would not make it as he would have been in a coma if he was resuscitated. It is a shock and very sad. Deaths are sad but a part of life. A friend of mine was an emotional ball of tears when she found out and there I was not really emotionally bothered by it. I felt sort of bad not having any type of reaction but I study death and dying as an anthropologist and I see it from a totally different perspective. Still, he is not suffering with his problems anymore, he can finally rest and I take comfort in that.

I just heard that by the time they got there, he was cold, so.... no chance of revival. I can understand different perspectives on death. It's when the death is unexpected, or the person is young. I must admit that I've taken my pets' deaths harder than when some family members (distant) passed...

i actually really amused by the wild rumours

i was sad that Farah died for real especially

but i admired the rumours if only for the fact that if felt a bit we were taking back the news... there is just so information overload...it felt a bit like a semi peaceful rebellion

I'm wrapt that Jeff Gioldblum got his own back on Richard Wilkins (see here). Wilkins is a twat, entertainment reporter from Australia (Sydney actually :D) who obviously didn't do his homework before announcing this on NATIONAL, LIVE television. Oh and he has BAD 80's hair! I just found this with the live report and then the back peddling. Gotta love the moron :D
