Totally disgusted

I came home, turned on the TV and suddenly heard the classic NBC STAR TREK theme song. I went, huh? This is CNN. Since when does CNN show Star Trek. I saw what looked like the streaking of stars, then it continued and it turned out to be an ad for the Hummer - the most pretentious gas-guzzling vehicle on the planet. I was revolted. I wonders if it was Paramount who sold out a classic theme song to this stupid car company? People who watch Trek are more apt to drive a Prius than a vehicle that screams 'look at me, I'm rich and waste my money on a vehicle I can't even drive properly' (and yes, I see enough of these vehicles to say that's a fact).

Blech.

Sorry, just had to vent....

I think I had the same reaction the first time I saw that ad. Can't stand them, especially since 9 times out of 10 the driver is on their cell phone. I really want another motorcycle but the number of SUVs in my area would mean I'd be raking my life into my hands. Maybe when gas is $5 a gallon. Ha!

On a side note, GM/Hummer must have coughed up big money to Paramount. When Motorola came out with their first flip cell phones Paramount hit them with several law suits (dad used to work for Motorola's legal dept.).

I'd love to get a small fuel-efficient car but don't care to get squashed by an Excursion driven by some nitwit woman driver (and being female, I can say that - many women drivers in this area shouldn't be behind the wheel).

Female driver here too, and being in Calif. for a few years hasn't helped. I do have a little car (long commutes to school and work) and hate SUVs - there seems to beway too many Suburbans in my neighborhood, along with big pick-up trucks.

Besides the gas mileage, I'd never get an SUV because at 5', climbing in and out of one is a pain!
