EXCERPT: Felicia Day has gone from chasing vampires to hunting werewolves.

The "Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog" star will play the lead in the Syfy Saturday original movie "Red," an adult reimagining of the Little Red Riding Hood tale, Syfy announced Monday (March 8)

In the telefilm, Red (Day) reveals to her fiancee just what he's getting into if he marries into her family: A family of werewolf hunters. When he gets bitten by a werewolf and therefore becomes their target, Red has to step in and try to save him.

"Stargate Atlantis'" Kavan Smith and "Watchment's" Stephen McHattie also star. "Red" is the latest in a series of Syfy's updated fairy tales. "Beauty and the Beasts: A Dark Tale" starring Estella Warren premiered on Feb. 27. "Aladdin," "Sinbad the Sailor," "Hansel and Gretel" and other tales to be announced will also get the Syfy treatment.

I hope he's not the werewolf that bites the 'hero' and gets killed at the beginning or something or is just a werewolf in the crowd, so to speak. He seems a little old to play the boyfriend but I if I'm gonna watch this 'once and future turkey' I want me some serious Kavan-time! LOL

re-doing the fairy tales?
hmm, i wonder if that is what David H is directing in Bulgaria? what fairytale takes place in snowy mountains and has something that could be described as snow monkeys? i'm going to have to think about this now...

I don't think David is redoing a fairytale. Syfy still has to make its monster flicks, which is what I think the evil snow monkeys are.

David tweeted to Felicia that he was sorry he couldn't cast her for his movie and now we know why. She's in Vancouver being a werewolf hunter while David is in Bulgaria shooting his movie with Jewel Staite's husband Matt Anderson.
