Well, this should get fandom stirred up...

Showing off the vast fabric of the Stargate universe, cast members from both Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis will make appearances in the second season of SGU.

That’s the word from our friends at SCI FI PI, the Web site for Australia’s SCI FI broadcast network, which was in Vancouver last week for an international press junket on the show’s set.

My opinion? It doesn't surprise me that they're using Stargate SG-1 characters. Daniel Jackson is smarter than most of the folks on Destiny so could always a help. Carter? I think the scientist in her would like to see the Destiny so she'd go... Teal'c? There's absolutely no reason for him to go, and he'd probably need therapy if he ended in Eli's body ;) Jack makes the most sense (everybody reporting back to him). Mitchell? He' s a pilot, so, er, why go?

As for Atlantis... and I see this, quite honestly, as a way to draw back all the Atlantis fans who quit the franchise (if you comment, please refrain from bad language, thx) . Let's see, Sheppard? Pilot, why go? McKay? Been through body swap, would probably rather eat a lemon than do it again. Teyla, no need, Ronon (same scenario as Teal'c) ;). Zelenka? Hmm...

But of course lots of folks could stay Earth-side as nobody is going to lose the dumb stones anytime soon. My guess is the guest star will be like 2-3 minutes max, although they'll promote the heck out of it. Call me cycnical, but I've watched SyFy too long ;)

Wait, there are still people around who call SGU a part of the Stargate franchise?

*shudders*

And there are still people out there who call them selfs Stargate fans. *laughable*

People should move one with their live´s and not complaining about a show they hate so much. If I don´t like something, I not try to ruin it for others who find it great and simply stop watching. At least grown ups would do that.
The SGU actors and writer´s have nothing to do with TPTB decision to cancel Atlantis.

SGU IS AWESOME AND AMAZING!

I did give SGU a chance, because I had never given Atlantis the chance (only in the writer's stike it was that I decided to try Atlantis and fell in love).

But it just doesn't have the Stargate feel for me.

I don't blame TPTB for anything. I'm used to falling in love with shows that just got cancelled. I don't hold a grudge against anyone.

I just don't like SGU and IMO; it's not part of the franchise because it's TOO DIFFERENT than from Stargate.

I think it is indeed part of the fan dome, it has to offer many different and cool new things. And it´s an insult to say SGU is not Stargate anymore.
I really get sick with all the nay sayers who tend to spread so much negativity on a franchise that had made three cool TV shows over almost two decade´s. I love McKay, Shep and co. as much as I love Rush, Eli and Young.
And SG1 and SGA had their downtimes and bad episodes, decisions as much as any other show.

Most Nay sayers didn't watch SGU. I did watch most of the season, but I gave up eventually.

I respect your view, but to think that my view (or the one of others that say that it isn't part of the franchise) is an insult to the wonderful people that created Stargate and not respected makes me happy that I'm not that involved in the fandom.

The people who created SG1 and SGA also created SGU!
I don´t think Universe will fail just because of these constant bashing from some unsatisfied people who can´t life with change.
I enjoy Universe and hope it get´s many, many seasons.

I didn't say that I want it to fail, did I?

I gave SGU ten chances and it doesn't hook me - to tell the truth I was thinking of a fanfic to kill the whole whiny gang off. And at that point I gave up and it wouldn't be on my interest list anymore. What me get on the barrikades are SGU-lovers who offent fans of the other shows (SG-1 and Atlantis).
You can enjoy SGU, okay, but don't blame anyone who don't like the show.
To answer the question: No, SGU isn't part of the franchise for me.

Adding my support to the SGU not living up to the Stargate name. And being able to express that view without being pounced upon as a bad fan. I like what I like, no shame in that. And I'm still bitter about the cancellation, also no shame in expressing it.

exactly, I dont do SGU and having an sga actor on there may make me catch the clips on youtube, but it will not encourage me to watch the show. and if that means im not a true fan then so be it.

BattleGateVoyager90210 sucks. I hate it.

There is no real Stargate on TV anymore. No you see, Stargate died with SG1 and Atlantis...they were real science fiction. Stargate Universe? It is nothing more than a space soap with unappealing characters, unappealing plots, pathetic acting, shaky vomit inducing cameras, no actual lighting, crude & distasteful sex, no action, super fake blue aliens, recycled enemies (the Lucian Alliance), overdone mantras like 'we're the wrong people in the wrong place'--damn right they are, and not to mention the Destiny is one boring ship.

*Shrugs*

And YOUR opinion of whether or not I call myself a "fan" matters to me, why???? Sorry to puncture your ego but....that is simply not the case. I consider myself a Stargate fan (who the heck cares what YOU think? not me! =P ) only because I STILL enjoy all 15 seasons of SG1 and SGA on my DVDs (ok I admit I bought all 10 seasons of SG1 -twice! once as each season was released, once as a fancy schmancy set-- so does money = fan? if so I think I have YOU beat! ) and tried(and oh how I tried!) to watch SGU, but the show stinks like a pigfarm. The acting is a joke, the writing is horrible, the lighting just hides the fact they are re-using the older Stargate props & sets, the shakey camera is so pretentious. (and you know the saying..."an ounce of pretension is worth a pound of manure"...this show has it in spades!) But the fanboiz and Rabid Fans (yes babe, I am THAT Rac80! *wink, big grin* )still adore it and MUST find a way to denigrate those that have the incredibly good taste to disdain the show!
