I don't go to Joe Mallozzi's blog too often, as I don't read cooking reviews, and he gives too many spoilers on books I might read, and well, since Stargate Atlantis and Stargate SG-1 went poof, not so much to read about, but today...

http://josephmallozzi.wordpress.com/2010/07/15/july-15-2010-atlantis-crossover-which-begs-all-sorts-of-questions-and-another-big-guest-blogger-announcement/  or just  http://bit.ly/auT1d5

EXCERPT: With word from producer John G. Lenic that the deals have been closed on those Atlantis alums, we can now move forward on the script, secure in the knowledge that both extra-special guest stars will actually be on hand to say the dialogue written for specifically for them.  Great news for fans of the old series.  There was a reluctance to move ahead with an SGA crossover, particularly on my part, because the feeling was it would step on the timing of the SGA movie, Stargate: Extinction, the events of which directly proceed the Atlantis series finale, Enemy at the Gate.  But given the delay on the movie front and the ideal premise pitched out by Remi Aubuchon and Brad Wright, it was decided to go ahead with the crossover.  Not a big deal, but it will require some changes to the Stargate: Extinction timeline which, in turn, will beg a host of questions, some of which will be answered in episode #15, some of which won’t…at least not right away:

1. Where the hell is Atlantis?

AND the rest is at link above. I'm assuming from everything I've read that this is Stargate Universe/Atlantis crossover, so it begs the question of whom they'll have. I'd love to see Sheppard and McKay, but don't see how that could be worked in logically. Hmm...

Just a ploy to boost the crappy sg..ew's sagging ratings! This is the biggest betrayal yet! TPTB are so transparent and the comment about preferably feeding the cranky fans to Todd .

yeaaaahhhh.. trying to woo those "cranky fans"? I think the ratings have them rattled and rightly so. ;)

Anyway, I'll bet it's McKay and someone else, not Sheppard, possibly just a minor character... maybe not, but not Sheppard.

five minutes of the ep will involve Atlantis. Tops.

As for the rest...

Atlantis based on Earth? Are they crazy? So, what? Teyla and Kanaan just accept that they'll never see their people again? That goes against everything they spent 5 years building in Teyla's character....

Even putting that aside, Atlantis based on Earth? That's... Bah!

*sigh*

I promise I won't jump to any conclusions until something is known.... promise. but....

hmm....

Sure why not on earth, didn't the legend start here in the first place? I know what you mean, but everything is subject to change even Atlantis.

I'm happy they will go on no matter how they do it. I trust Joe will not compromise his believs so all I can say is God speed!

If they were smart, they'd just bring back SGA. :/

Word! Can we have a dream episode where Rodney has a bad nightmare caused by bad tava beans and Atlantis is back in Pegasus with Ronon, Teyla and John shaking their heads at the weird nightmare and the thought of Atlantis based on Earth?

This reeks of desperation - TPTB throwing a bone to the SGA fans to try to lure them to their not so shiny, sinking new toy. Not interested. I want SGA back, not a snippet of McKay and (fill in the blank) (surely not Sheppard). Mallozzi and Wright must be worried if they are desperate enough to bring in SGA actors, who they have been maligning in print since the cancellation.

I will be incredibly surprised if it is Sheppard, and not Rodney and (my money's on) Zelenka. Or Woolsey. Or Keller. They did that SG-1/Atlantis crossover and it was all McKay, barely any Sheppard, which I felt was really, really wrong (not just as a Sheppard fan, but also because Sheppard was just as much the main character).

If they're going to make this movie then they either need to make it or never mention it again.

*big annoyed sigh* First- Maj Lorne thing; it makes my head hurt. He paints. Why would that sound, well, gay? Second- let's all just speculate that Atlantis is left on Earth and everyone is hunky-dorey about it. I'm gonna go read 'Written by the Victors' now.

I wash my hands of this.

Yeah, exactly. Also, he'd be a civilian by the time of that Crossover From Hell because there's a little something called "DADT (but fire anyway)" and I just doubt they'll be able to handle such a sensitive issue as a gay servicemember on active duty in a highprofile military environment. I want them to keep their hands off Lorne and keep all "personal revelations" to themseves. In fact, I want them to keep their hands off SGA, period. They had enough chances to ruin it already.

Word. I don't get it. What, manly men don't paint? Straight men like to kill things, but can't have artistic talent? It's 2010. Grwo up, Mallozzi.

I think this is a ratings grab. There will be some SGA fans who are squeeing about this, but there is also those (like me) who are rolling our eyes. I don't want a movie now and I don't want them touching our show anymore.

Word. Word, word, word with a topping of Wordy McWord. And a cherry on top. I don't get what would be wrong with leaving it just the way it is. That way, everyone (those who think he's gay and those who think he's straight) is happy. Yes, in this case there is such a thing as pleasing everybody. That happens so rarely in real life... why not grab it when it arises? Grrr.

I'm betting it's McKay and Carter. Since she was on Atlantis, they can call her an 'alum'. If not Carter.. then Zelenka

I don't like the idea of the two shows crossing paths, but I'm not counting Sheppard out in this. With Joe's talks to SyFy and both him and David suddenly saying they 'would' do SGU if asked....just maybe. I could see it being a condition of Joe getting a green light on a show he wants to do.

(okay, I can hope can't I?) ;)

Joe only said he would on stage. In private it was a resound no, not a chance, no way and I dont blame him.

You know... everyone who doesn't like those news... should voice it to Mallozzi. I scanned the comments to his entry and they're all pathetically sucking up to him celebrating the news. I think it's important that at least some people voice their disapproval since I have a feeling that his perception of fandom is slightly... skewed due to the number of people who criticize him in his blog having dropped dramatically (I gather mainly because of the way he can't cope with handles criticism). Someone needs to tell him there also are fans who think that this (all of it... the crossover, leaving Atlantis an Earth, etc.) is a stupid decision, and it better be more than one.

Can't we just let the franchise die with some dignity? I'm not watching this mess no matter who they get on board but that's just me. The only thing I wish at this point is that it would just end already. The writing's on the wall and this long drawn out affair isn't even funny anymore, it's getting downright painful.

As for Lorne? ITA. Leave the poor character alone.

(Just as an aside, WTH? Nancy and Sheppard getting back together? Why would that even cross any serious writer's mind?)

SGA on SGU

I think it's going to be McKay and Woolsey because David Hewlett and Bob Picardo are very easy going and got along well with the writers (or at least Mallozzi). The two of them filmed that Morlocks Syfy movie late in 2009.

I don't watch SGU. Have they explained why McKay or Carter haven't been helping out the lost Destiny crew?
