Came across this article on the ducklings that were blown across the tarmac... http://www.thestar.com/news/article/903519--video-of-windblown-ducklings-at-woodbine-racetrack-goes-viral?bn=1 - "Video of windblown ducklings at Woodbine Racetrack goes viral."

EXCERPT:

No ducks were harmed in making the video, Matthew Stevens, the Woodbine Entertainment Group cameraman who captured the moment, assured the Star.

“We were under a wind delay at Woodbine. It’s a little dangerous for the horses to race in wind like that,” Stevens said Wednesday.

Braver than thoroughbreds, the duck family had tried twice before to get from the racetrack paddock to the walking ring. They picked themselves up after getting blown across the concrete, the ducklings got back into formation behind their mother, and they all ducked into a sheltered spot.

“We made sure none of the little ducklings would fall into the storm drain,” Stevens said. “They were fine.”

So, nice to know they all made it out okay!

Thanks for the update. I was wondering about them today.
I see Mallards around here e.g. one day I was out driving here in Summerfield and off a curb came a hen with 9 ducklings behind her
in order. They were all same size as those in the video......
They marched single file behind her. It was so cute.
There are signed along some main roads warning of 'duck crossing'
Some find it annoying, I don't

Can't recall when I last saw actual live ducks and ducklings. WE get Canada geese and their fluffy chicks.

WE have Canadian geese year around now which was not always the case.
I forget why they said they have taken up residence permanently here in Pacific NW.
They lounge on lawns of industrial parks, golf courses, which really infuriates the golfers, and many other areas.
I walked into a business building the other day and standing around outside were some hens and drakes, nonplussed by my presence.
