The only real spoilers will be for FRINGE....

Anyway, the new TV season isn't all that impressive. Let's see..

Okay, I'm still watchin CSI: NY, and thought they did a credible and respectful job with their 9/11 plot, but I was hoping for a little bit more with Mac and his wife (played by Jaime Ray Newman, aka Cadman from Stargate Atlantis).

I like A Gifted Man, which is a schmaltzy medical supernatural type show, mostly because it stars Patrick Wilson, who I've liked ever since seeing him in that movie Watchmen.

Um, I gave Hawaii Five-O another chance, and the episode in which they cleared him was pretty, well, um, er, what's the word? Um... too easy. Oh yes, the camera has been there for years. Just where was it storing all those pictures for such a long time? Terrabyte drive? Anyway, I tried it again this week but now they're adding some cookie cutter beauty type to the team so I turned off the tv.

I'm out of touch with NCIS but it's still fun to watch and I'll catch up on syndication.

Just because of curiosity I watched Two and a Half Men and figured, all they did was replace one actor with another. Character is basically the same. So, one ep was enough for me.

I've discovered I now have BBC America so have been catching up on Doctor Who, and luckily they're doing a ten hour marathon this weekend so I can catch up on all the Matt Smith ones. Have no idea of the season. I'll figure it out.

Fringe. I try it every year but it doesn't click, but heck, Joe Flanigan was on it so I watched! Loved him in boxer briefs (ah, why can't I see that when I open the front door) but blast, he was toast so damned quick it was ridiculous. I tried the rest but went meh, sort of an X-Files / Man Men mishmash and oh, those hideous lgasses the young guy is wearing.

And that's all I can recall. I'm not watching a ton of TV, and in fact am busy reading through the Joe  Pickett series by C.J. Box, about a game warden in Wyoming. I can picture Joe Flanigan in that role so easily.... but they are fun books to read. and I've been busy bookmarking STargate Atlantis stories to read later. So many stories, not enough time!

You too eh?? My hard drive is fully loaded......and keeps growing
and I keep saying that I will read one each night and get further and further behind..........and am now writing too, so you can imagine what that means for reading material......and then there is the other distraction, right now The Walking Dead on ON DEMAND.

I am waiting for The Walking Dead season to begin
Deputy Grimes in particular.......
>:-)
ON DEMAND has rolled out the former season so I am watching
what I missed on AMC in anticipation of 10/16 when they air the new season episode.
I stumbled over the first season one night on AMC and was hooked with the pilot, especially that little girl Grimes stumbles on when he is looking for gas for this squad car.

I also got a copy of Mars Needs Moms yesterday which I want to watch soon......

I have to agree, things haven't quite jelled on the TV front. Watched 'Fringe' for Joe, perhaps he'll be back. Maybe 'Grimm' will be good? Supernatural really lost me last year and I'm not the least bit happy with the way it started this year. I have to say, guilty pleasure, I liked 'Teen Wolf'. Absolutely loving the SGA fic I'm coming across.

I don't know what happened with AXN but I can't find anything interesting anymore, so I'll pass. Before I was watching to see something different from other TV stations like Stargates, Merlin, and some other TV shows in the same direction, I mean really INTERESTING, but all I can see now is criminal shows, and other crap which I can find on any other TV station. So they'll better close the doors.

What about Flashpoint? Have you been watching the new eps or are you waiting for Ion to show them?

I was watching the pilot of Terra Nova, and when the portal came up, I thought " wow , what a huge Stargate!". And when I read the questions online about plot holes in the pilot, why can go only in on direction, but not back, only messages can be directed back to the portal" I thought, hey, that is because they have a ZPM only on one side, and "just watch SGA and you all get it" :-).
The pilot was suspenseful, but I don't know how the other episodes will be.

I'm watching more TV than ever this year and there's some promising ones, it's just can they stay afloat long enough to get their legs under them that is the question.

Fringe -- Well you know my feelings there! :)

I liked A Gifted Man also, felt it was a pretty good pilot. Have also enjoyed A Person of Interest and Terra Nova. I'm watching Unforgettable but if I miss it, it won't bug me. It's okay just not sure the characters are all that interesting.

I like Hawaii 5-O but I'm not rabid about it -- the whole finale last year was not that great and for the mess they made of it, the premiere wasn't too bad.

Trying to think what all is new that I've tried, think I got them all LOL. I am still watching NCIS, Supernatural, even though I wasn't thrilled with either one last year. NCIS is better so far this year than it has been in a while. *crossing fingers* SPN also started out better than last year so we'll see.

Vampire Diaries, Nikita, Mentalist ...enjoyed their premieres.

All in all, I've got way too much to watch and am using my DVR quite a bit! Really not a lot that I'd be crushed if I missed it though. Right now think the only one that falls in that category is Terra Nova. I was really looking forward to it and thought the premiere was great.

Bwahahahahah!!!!! CBS did not pick up Flashpoint! Fiends! Idiots! However, ION tv did and it will start October 18th, but it will take who knows how long to see the brand new season, which already started in Canada. I just followed the Flashpoint people on twitter and sigh whenever they announce "new episode tonight" :(

Flashpoint fan here, as well. Couldn't believe CBS didn't pick it up...one of the few things I watched. So glad its coming on ION...it has one of the best ensemble casts around.

Ah...Fringe...I love Fringe, but after they killed off Joe, I have issues...so disappointed he wasn't in the show longer...but at least we got to see him.

H5O...better I not say too much, wasn't a fan last year and I thought the opening show and the new cast member...ver disappointing.

Agree with [livejournal.com profile] kodiak_bear, NCIS is so much better this year than last...hated the story arc last year, and NCIS LA better keep Heddy...do not like the blond guy,Deeks, could lose him. Criminal Minds...still rocks, and CSI...well, not sure yet about Ted Danson...but love the show.

Hate that the Closer is almost over, haven't gotten into too many other shows. Never seems to be enough time to watch them or to DVR then watch. Not certain where the time goes...

Oh, I love Fringe but after season 1 it stopped being the kind of show you can just dip into and became more arc-led with lots of stuff going on in the alternate reality and crossing over into ours. I can understand how watching the season premiere wouldn't grab anyone, without knowing/having some investment in the other Lincoln Lee, who likewise wouldn't be seen dead in those glasses.

For me all my must see shows have become cable shows. Network shows I like but not with the same giddy excitement as with my cable shows.

It really bugged me that Joe's character was killed off so quick on Fringe (but, oddly, on the plus side, for some reason it got me back on track with my amnesia story). Truth be told I was never a big Fringe fan but I'm curious this year to see how they get Peter back.

I'm still watching the Mentalist, Criminal Minds and NCIS. Supernatural I saw the premiere but it remains to be seen if this season will hold me (last season... didn't). I still need to watch Persons of Interest which my says is good.

Oh yeah, Walking Dead. I'll pick up on that when it returns. Hopefully the second season will be as good as the first.

Oh yeah, I should watch/record Grimm as the predictions for its longevity are, well, grim. ;) I'm years behind on Supernatural. I'll pick up the DVDs on sale one day and one year do a marathon.

Oh lord, I thought "Stargate"! when I saw the *cough* portal. Hoping Terra Nova can maintain good quality.

Oh yeah, Mentalist, forgot that one. Watched last season's finale, and this season's premiere and thought, wow, plot holes galore. I mean, sorry, but that was just cold-blooded murder, unless they can show he was temporarily nuts, which would be more acceptable.

I need to fix my old DVR. Right now I'm just reusing videotapes but nothing screams tape and save.

I miss the good ole days when you got 22 episodes of a season, no interruptions, repeats of those eps in the summer, and no 'second-season-itis' and oh hey, better written scripts ;)

well, maybe if they bring back Joe's character to Fringe (it's scifi, so maybe in another alternate reality whatever) ;) Ooh, is that Peter Outerbridge in your icon??

I'll probably give Persons of Interest another try tonight. Yeah, I don't think anyone was happy that Joe's character got snuffed and the show had barely begun. I wonder if he had more scenes but they got cut? At least we got the boxer shorts ;)

Yep, because I love ReGenesis too... even if Peter's character seemed to spend as much time having sex as doing science! ;)

It wasn't red john but he thought it was -- and in the end he found out the guy he murdered was just about as bad. The thing is, Jane has always said he's going to get revenge. He's been very matter-of-fact since day one. Will he shoot red john straight up? Definitely.

I think he doesn't show emotions. He keeps that surface facade but some of the comments he made seemed to expose the doubt he was feeling about the man he did murder. What saved him in the end was knowing the guy was just as warped.

I also think though that Jane is somewhat mentally off to the point that accidentally killing an innocent in the pursuit of his revenge would be something he could put off as 'unfortunate mistake' and press on. It's all that matters to him, everything else is secondary. He's not fully sane and it's been danced around a few times.

Did you try Terra Nova?

Ah, thx for the details on Mentalist.

Yup, tried Terra Nova and will keep watching. The characters are decent (although I was hoping one teenager might just get eaten by dino to shut her up) ;)

LOL -- I think that's been a universal reaction. Lose a teen or two to dinos, we'll all be happier. :) I read a review that kind of summed up the plot pretty well in that they tried to do much and the conflict between dad and son should've been done over a period of time, not all in the pilot (or better yet, not ever, because it's such an overused trope). Despite the flaws, it's one of the more promising new shows so crossing fingers it develops well as the season goes.
