I've never been to a movie in which Hasbro was listed in the front of the credits. The movie itself had a very simplistic plot, simplistic characters (no angst, no credit card debt, nada) and is definitely geared toward the under 15 age audience.

Transformers was a hoot! Mindless fun. That's all I wanted from the summer movie and got it. Won't spoil the plot, but being off a cartoon, you know the world won't end at the conclusion nor will there be blood all over the streets (although if you realistically counted the damge to occupied office buildings struck by transformers during their fights, and the military disaster at the beginning, the death toll could reach up toward 1,000 but hey, just needless unseen stats in a cartoonish flick).

They had some cube everybody was after, and all I could think of when I saw it was "The Borg! The Borg!" and then there was Glenn Morshower, an actor who played the Sheriff in season one of CSI: Crime scene Investigation (as well as a recurring role on 24) as a military leader at the beginning of the flick. I shallowly decided to watch the flick for a) mindless fun, and b) see how Josh Duhamel from NBC's Las Vegas did in a movie. He has more lines in Las Vegas, I think, but he looks good in uniform. Well, I did say I had shallow reasons for watching.

Favorite character? Mojo. Oh, well, you just gotta see Mojo... and second runner-up, the evil tiny Decepticon (obviously the bad guys just from that name!) that is in the same class as Salacious Crumb from Star Wars and other nasty evil litle creatures of wrongdoing.

I hadn't read any reviews till after the flick, and they vary from 'great'  to 'awful' and some die-hard Transformers fans are having a fit. Having never seen the cartoons, just ads for them, I couldn't tell if anything was out of whack.

But if you're looking for two hours of mindless, amusing, violent fun, then this is the movie for you.

Meawhile, there was an interesting trailer for a JJ Abrams flick called Bad Robot that aired before the movie. Some folks are having fun at a going-away party and then somebody starts attacking the city (ala any of the destroy-NYC-Dean Devlin flicks like Godzilla, Independence Day, etc.) It looks promising.

Well, sure as heck wasn't good luck for Buffalo, NY. Turned on the boob tube and they're talkling two FEET of snow. ACK! IT's not even Halloween yet!

Other inane snippets gleaned off news before consumption of coffee which would make me think better... Madonna adopts a kid (TV reports goes "are oprhans the latest celebrity accessory?") which makes me think of Paris Hilton and her rotating pets (ah, doggie got too big? ditch it!).

Well, I was thinking about checking out CBS's Smith, but it got axed in what, two weeks? Oh well. NBC killed KIDNAPPED, which I never got around to watching, but will replace it with MEDIUM, which I will watch. Of the programs, JERICHO is okay, but it seems very LOST-like and I don't know if that's going to hold my attention. However, the most fun show I've seen in a long time is ABC's UGLY BETTY, which is a scream (thanks to the Chicago Tribune for recommending it - I woudn't have bothered otherwise). I just realized, it's the ONLY show on ABC that I watch!

Was cringing at last night's CSI - it was good, but.... well, Greg gets the crap beaten out of him and it's night, yet by the time Sara arrives, the sun has risen. He's just lying there on the pavement like a corpse, but he's still alive. Where are the paramedics? ARGH! Big continuity error as the police dispatcher said backup would arrive in five minutes and come on, the cops would at least cover him with a blanket, not leaving him lying on the cold pavement for hours! Bangs head on keyboard in frustration. But, hey, at least I saw them use the bedrails on E.R. ;)

David Hewlett's busy updating his website. (www.dgeek.com) He's commenting on fan comments on his site ;)

Been trying to keep up with SGA fanfic.... following lots of WIPs. Just got finished with NotTasha's Among the Stars (http://www.fanfiction.net/s/3174179/1/) which is a great Rodney whump / Shep angst piece with plot, excitements, explosions and more.

Ack, gotta go to work.

You know, you think just cuz the body is now a corpse and the smell has gone away, that it's all over with. Out of sight, out of mind. However, alas, whatever it was that had the poor taste to croak in the basement ceiling, leaving a foul stench that fortunately a bag of volcanic rocks and a citus scented candle was able to handle, has now given us its departing gifts.

Flies. B52 bomber size flies. ACK! I should have known! I watch CSI! Botflies or worse! Anyway, it started the other day, this thing ZOOMED past my face and I went, what the? Man, they're getting big, until the next day when I spied a black lump crawling across a face on TV and realized, crap, where are these flies coming from?

Egads, the body. Not a mouse (even though they can create quite a stench). It was a rodent - we figure (a) chipmunk, or (b) (shudder) squirrel. But it's an ex-whatever so that's good. Alas, it got in a part of the ceiling that is impossible to get to without creating some major work ($$$). Plus who needs Hanta virus? So, unlike the mouse that had the indign.ity to crawl around the corner before we could retrieve it with wires and broomsticks, this poor sucker is just gonna be a dessicated pile of bones in time

I vacuumed up about a dozen flies. Not knowing if the flies were of the hardy mutant variety that can survive being vacuumed, I taped the vacuum nozzle shut. Just in case. Can't be too paranoid with B52 bomber flies.

I just don't want any of 'em landing on the TV screen during the Stargates tonight or else, I get out the brick from Universal Studio (foam) and toss it!
