Yup, the predicted storm did arrive, although about six hours late. I took the day off (use it or lose it, so I took the last vacation day I had) and I'm glad I did, as twenty minutes after it started, Ithought, I'll run an errand. Went down the road, turned around, came back. Roads were slick and the Fed Ex truck just missed the stone wall!

So, here are some photos from today's snow!

A Christmas tree a few roads down. I couldn't get a decent sharp photo without flash (sure not dragging a tripod around in the snow), so went for the artistic squiggle look ;)

A snowy road, plowed but already full of snow again.

A snowy nebula! No, but it looks cool, doesn't it? I just breathed out and caught it as it froze up :)

Cool pics. And yeah that was nice timing for taking your vacation day.

So yeah, twice this week I've had to leave work early due to an asthma attack from ringing up candles. WTF.

You mean those highly scented holiday candles? They give me headaches!

wow, I think it's snowing everywhere but here!

Oh and I'm sure you'll appreciate this from yahoo - best and worst casting of fall 2008 TV:

WORST: Everyone But Car on "Knight Rider"
This remake has a slew of wooden actors and a boring-as all-hell Val Kilmer providing KITT's voice. While the car itself is sexy, we kind of wish that it would shut up sometimes. Actually, if the show was just the car driving around and silently fighting crime, it probably would be better. But anything that involves talking? That's when the trouble starts.

We were supposed to get snow, but only got a skiff, then later tonight it's supposed to his 20 below. Like last weekend.

I hate it when your first breath of air when you step outside snaps nose hairs off....

=^.^=

That last photo is great!

Yuppers. And without windchill. Supposed to be worse out on the plains....

Brrbrrbrrbrrbrrbrr exactly! (if you want scary, do a weather check for my hometown, Cut Bank, Montana sometime this weekend. It will be worse than Missoula.)

Last weekend I thought about putting on my baggy pants and sticking a cat in each pants leg. Then decided even though it would be warm, the possible blood loss would be too great.

But hey, research for whump!

Would keep you warm, but yeah, the blood loss could be significant ;)

Love the pics Wraith ..we got hit by the same storm (even had some thunder snow around 6PM in Hamden). I will be posting the pics I took on my LJ.

Did your AF's go out in the snow?

For a minute. Too friggin' cold! Plus by the time I was done shoveling driveway, too tired anyway.

Very understandable on both counts. Looks like we might miss most of the mess tomorrow...going to be just rain along the coastal areas more mess inland according to channel 8.

Hope you take the this the right way.... I don't like the first pic. Seeing roads like that gives me the chills. I hate driving in snow.

I however LOVE the second pic. That is the way to have fun in the snow!!!

Oh, i hate driving in snow too. That was basically unplowed, so only the foolhardly went out in that!

Have fun with the next bout thats on the way :D

We just got done with 36 hours of snow that piled up to around 3 feet(really really high for here), and there is more on its way in from the Pac this weekend.

I finally made it out to the road earlier today(only took 5 minutes instead of yesterday's 15) and found that even if we were to get one of the van's free, we'd be SOL as our driveway has a 3-4 foot wall of ice in front of it from the single lane the snow plow carved out.

I'm hoping we can get out of here by Sunday/Monday for basic groceries if nothing else as we are starting to run low on milk. Plus am totally starting to eyeball the icicles as friends *g* can't stand being STUCK for so long(haven't gotten out of here since Tuesday, add in a 16-18 hour stretch of no power = rollicking good times ;) )

From: [identity profile] wraithfodder.livejournal.com
Eeeuuuu, too much snow, etc. for me! Yeah, they LOVE to just plow all the snow from the road in front of the driveway, which is why I was out at 9pm last night shoveling the bottom of the driveway. Not like SGA was on to watch anyway ;)

I'm not looking forward to the next storm.

Yes, it is faaaaar too much snow especially when you aren't used to it.

Tried to get out today, and that just did *NOT* happen couldn't even get the cars out of the lot.

And now the new round of snow came in and with it brought wind so we will see what happens.

I hadn't bought snow tires as I hadn't expected to still own this car as I'd planned on replacing it -then the market meltdown and the shakiness of the job - so will drive the old car on all season tires, which really, don't do the job in snow. darn.

Date: 2008-12-21 07:54 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] mackenziesmomma.livejournal.com
*shrugs* Well we just have tires on the car(not sure what kind, lol), as we don't normally even get Snow snow, and when it does snow its just a little bit and melts quickly.

Though this weather has brought on a whole new level of fun now, in that one of the goats nearly died of hypothermia last night and I had to save her. So now I have a 50lb goat running around my kitchen *g*.

Heh, I was going to bed and a thought hit me last night. wait a second, I think I went the wrong way. Yeah, that's hot! No thanks. I want the mid-70s (yeah, being picky). with balmy breeze, clean white beach, in Bora Bora, and Sheppard in the next beach chair. Hey, I can dream ;)

Love the look of the lights & snow.

I sure do want to experience a white Christmas one day. Having to sweat at 35+ degrees heat do sometimes make you feel that it's not a stereotypical Christmas.

From: [identity profile] wraithfodder.livejournal.com
After going outside and nearly freezing off my toes and fingers, somehow, sweating in the heat doesn't sound so bad ;)
