At least with casting. It seems all the SG1 cast will guest star in SGU. Alas, SGA, once again, is the red-headed stepchild.... :(

---------------

Alas, I am yawning at this news. I liked STargate SG-1, but I am tired of TPTB foisting these characters into every incarnation of Stargate. Wasn't it enough that they appeared in Stargate Atlantis? Can NO Stargate show stand on its own two feet?? Guess not. And, I can see including a singer is definitely aiming toward the *cough* '90210' audience. ;)

UPDATE: Ooops, go to post right after this to read article, plus make comments.  Mistakenly posted it twice!

This seems to be a common thing in a lot of new shows. Smallville started it and to some extent Supernatural does it too, but with old Metalhead music. One Tree Hill, the new 90210, even some of big shows like diffrent of the CSIs and Without a Trace, and even The Dollhouse have tossed in mainline music people songs into the background while everyone moves around or in some case moons around trying to seem thoughtful and emoting like mad. It's...marketing to sell the music and try to appeal to "younger people". Personally, I've found it annoying. It's so obviously marketing and everyone is doing it any more. *shakes head*

*Mentions of above TV shows does not mean I watch all the CW drivel beyond Supernatural and on the rare occation Smallville.

Well, it really started with Stephen J. Cannel shows back in the 80s, then Miami Vice really made it work, but lately, yeah, even NCIS has a soundtrack now!

Have to agree...SADLY.

Happens in every show including TNG with McCoy so really, it's a non-event.

Also, you double posted this btw.

Saw one youtube video and she seems good, but don't know what style they'll have her singing. i'm just not enamored with songs being used to push a stargate series...

me either.. although the occasional one does not bother me. I liked CCR in SG-1's "unending" and geeze there were a few nice ones in SGA's "Vegas" Cash, Manson, The Stones...

"Vegas" was the only episode that really made sense, as for one thing, it was an alternate universe story...

Lame.

(in canon) There is no reason that members of SGA can't be a part of SGU now that Atlantis is back on earth (which means they can visit the SGC any time).

[except] TPTB screwed over the Atlantis cast royally. But still, I can't imagine that, schedule permitting, professionals (actors, but more-so TPTB) couldn't set aside differences and be a part of the show or ask them if they would play a brief part.

Even if the show turns out not to suck half as badly as I think it will, the showrunners still do.

"Red-headed stepchild" BWAAAAHAAA! That's exactly how I've described it to my friends - well, take away the "red-headed" and substitute with "in the cupboard under the stairs" ;) Now that SGA is over, there are all sorts of disturbing reports surfacing about how badly the cast was treated by TPTB. Frankly, I'm not surprised. Still, in spite of all that, the SGA actors had done a fantastic job & created unforgettable characters full of life. I so MISS them!!!

I'm not very optimistic about the SGA movie - I really don't think it'll happen & if it will, I am very worried about the fact that Joe Mallozzi is authoring the SCRIPT!!!
