The facility, it deserves mentioning, was designed by world-renowned Vancouver architect Arthur Erickson, who was also responsible for the Academic Quadrangle at Simon Fraser University. Fans of science fiction television will recognize it as a location used in nearly everything lensed in Vancouver, from The X-Files to the Stargate franchise to Battlestar Galatica, for which it doubled as Caprica City's main square

Let's all agree that it's OK to hate "Twilight" fans for the same reason it's OK to hate fanatics of "Stargate", "Star Trek", or "Lord of The Rings": it's kind of cheesy, it's pretty lame, and even when you love something dearly, you don't need to dress up as your favorite character and camp out for days on end, invade a real person's privacy, or write bitter response letters to online columnists like myself (oh, they're coming, I'm sure of it; the "comments" section is gonna get ugly, methinks) in order to express your love. In all likelihood, you're gonna look back on this bizarre little portion of your life with utter shame and humiliation.  But that's just part of being a teenager, I guess.

Good God, everybody’s having sex on this show.” That was my reaction about halfway into the new trailer for Stargate Universe that is being shown at Comic-Con ‘09. I’m going to go out on a limb here and say that this is the same trailer the Stargate Universe panel will also be showing. The trailer runs pretty long, and gives you a good idea of how they’re approaching the show. I must admit, there are parts of it that looked better than I had anticipated (I like the flying orb-camera they discover, which allows them to dictate their thoughts like they’re on a reality show or something) though there are other parts where my original fears that this is little more than a bad attempt to turn the Stargate franchise into a Battlestar Galactica clone seemed, well, justified.

Do you have any idea if there are going to be panels for SGA and SG-1 like previous years..or is it all SGU?

Stan Helsing is going to be shown at comiccon, which has our very own Ben Cotton (Kavanagh) in it. Apparently he's going to be there, but don't say I said anything. (also he starred in Harper's Island)

To my knowledge SyFy is only doing the Stargate Universe panel. Nothing on SG1 or Atlantis :(:(

Don't forget too, that Stan Helsing is going to be shown at Comiccon, and SGA's Ben Cotton (Kavanagh) is reportedly going to be there.

"Good God, everybody’s having sex on this show."

That line sort of cracked me up, as well as the whole article, especially when combined with the irony of TPTB releasing the SG-1 pilot sans nudity because they didn't want that sort of adult content in the show.

Wait, they edited CHildren of the Gods for nudity?? Sheesh! As for the 'sex on the show', well, I suspect there will be mroe than on previous SGs.

There were apparently several stylistic changed in the new DVD release, such as new camera angles, different editing, new music, etc. Haven't watched it myself, I'm only going by what I've been hearing.

BW has often said the nude scenes in the pilot were required by the network (Showtime) and/or an artistic decision by the director, and he never liked having those scenes.

I've always found it interesting there was never any nudity or anything else that would have to be edited for reairing in syndication though. Which is why a lot of people watching the pilot on DVD were a little surprised by the nudity.

I know a couple of other shows on Showtime around the same time period aired the "naughty" version that later appeared on DVD, but an edited version was out for broadcast syndication.

Showtime usually has language or something that gets broadcast censors in a lather. I would actually expect some swearing from a military team, but I guess they went to Disney Boot Camp. *g*

Heh, yeah, Disney Boot Camp. I can see it now. No yelling, take small children by the hand, turn right, turn left, don't leave anything behind ;)

"Also, did I mention people seems to be having lots of sex on the show?"

That made me ROTF! XD

*sigh*

I don't like the fact they are doing all the sexytime. Just makes it even more un-Stargate like. But, I'm speaking from limited experience.

I also thought what they've shown of SGU on TV looked too much like BSG than I was comfortable with and now with what you've said I'm not as excited as I was before. I have a feeling this is gonna be a let down for me.

I hope it does well though. I really do.

I'm wondering if they're just pushing it in the trailer to draw in a crowd and if the show won't have as much. Alas, only time will tell.
