Attack of the Monster Woodpecker!!

Well, looks like this tree is gonna be toast. A rather large pileated woodpecker has made short work of it in just a week or two. I don't remember seeing all those HOLES in the tree before! But the tree has lived very long - all tree folk who have seen are surprised it hasn't broken in half yet - probably this year. but the bird is gorgeous, and I'd rather have him peck that tree apart than go after the house!

These videos were shot with a Panasonic Lumix DMC=FZ7 digital camera, with a 12x zoom lens, and obviously, no image stabilization! ;)

Thanks! I almost thought still pictures but then went, nah, want video! For that wonderful banging noise.
