MGM's Stargate Atlantis site starting to do Season 4 publicity

If you go here - http://stargate.mgm.com/characters.php - you'll find updated bios for the Stargate Atlantis cast. Everybody has new photos, well, except for Weir and Carson, as they're toast so MGM/SciFi isn't gonna waste time taking new photos.

Nice airbrushing on Joe. Cos you know, airbrushing the lines off a 40 year old man doesn't look exactly like airbrushing the lines off a 40 year old man.

There's obviously some touchup on the shots, but at least we don't get the Photoshop poisoning we got on SG1 in season 10. Awful.

The SG10 shots were.... well, I refused to even download any as JPGs they were so plastic... I mean, they were turned into mannequins with all that touchup!

Totally stupid. There can't be that many opportunities to make money from SciFi promo shots. The episode imagery makes me laugh most. You can get almost as good a quality image from a HDTV HR xvid rip...

You know, I barely looked at Joe since Sci Fi hired a really bad graphic artist retouch person. I bop along through the other and then BAM. My first thought, "I thought Amanda was in the cast. Where is she? Wait, that's Amanda? I don't think she's a drag queen." All in like a 3 second fast hyper speed thought. Poor Amanda.

Followed the link here from the newsletter, and I LOL! when I read this comment because, OMG, that's the first thing I thought too. What an awful picture - first of all, it looks like they're trying to airbrush over a beard, and secondly, she looks about 60 years old. *woof*

Ugh! Airbrush city. Not quite as bad as what they did to the SG1 cast last year but why oh why do they feel the need to do airbrush the actors to such an extent? These are all attractive people and we've all seen pics of these guys taken up close at cons, and digital camera are pretty damn unforgiving, and they always look great, so why do they need to do this? *sigh* One of these days they are going to have some character promo shots of Sheppard that I actually like and where he doesn't look like a Ken doll. JF is attractive because he looks real, people in general are attractive because of the little flaws that make them individuals, airbrushing those little flaws out just makes them look bland.

Well there's my Saturday morning rant out the way!

Thanks for posting these. Whoever is in charge of SGA's graphics/promo department should be fired. At least these poses aren't completely awful like last season's, but half of fandom could do a better job with Photoshop.

Teyla looks pretty, though, and Rodney looks good in a leather jacket so all is not lost.

Airbrushing Sheppard? Oh, the eyes! I went straight for the lips and that little quirky smirk. Missed the other completely :-) It's hard to get a bad shot of Amanda Tapping, wonder how they managed it. And Jewel looks great, as always. The cameras love her.
