Well, I bought cherries, and I still can't eat them. Allergic to them now, if they're raw. However, if they're baked into a pie....

These are the now pitted cherries, mixed up with sugar and stuff, before I baked it.

Um, did some taste-testing. Had to make sure it was done, right?

And then there were a bunch of cherry pits. Did a quick google, then put them out on the patio, for the ravenous rodents...

burp!

Bing cherries???????????????????????????????????
I still remember dear grandmother's Bing tree in her side yard
The tree was very old and gnarled and loaded with fruit each year.
When I was a child she made preserves, cherry wine, cherry pie and cherry juice and I happily sampled all but the wine.................
It was to die for.
Thanks for the lovely memory

Yup, bing cherries. Got 'em on sale. Have another package left so will either make another pie, or maybe preserves. It's sooooo much better than any store bought cherry pie, except maybe the one that cost $20 (yes, that much!) but I refuse to pay that. Ah, to have cherry trees outside. no wait, the chipmunks would ravage them ;)

I LOVE Bing cherries just as they are but also love them in pie and in preserves.
The latter are to die for.
You never see Bing preserves save for some local vendors in this area where I live. The same ones who make Marionberry preserves
which I love too
And speaking of, my favorite preserves are:
Marionberry
Bing Cherry
Boysenberry
Strawberry
Not in any particular order............

If you love this selection, you NEED to try a product iced or hot called:
Wild Berry Zinger - Celestial Seasonings (no caffeine)
I just love it
For iced (which is particularly amazing)
2 cups of boiling water with 2 bags
When it is sufficient strength, I like it strong for that
real berry taste, then ring out the bags and let it cool
before you place in the fridge
It has a real berry taste, but does include cherries in it too
as well as cranberries.

Pie looks super yummy. Probably just needed a scoop of vanilla ice cream... to cut the sweet. ;)

That chipmunk looked like he had the mumps when he ran off. So cute

The pie looks fantastic - suddenly I'm hungry!!

The video is fascinating - how many cherry pits can a chipmunk store? A LOT!!! :) It also appears to clean the pips first, which I found interesting!

On his first run, I think he got 14/15 into his cheeks! Otherwise, averaging a dozen each run and he/she took them ALL.
