That caused me to get rear-ended. I still don't know what happened - there were no skid marks that any of us could see. Anyway, this hybrid slammed fast and hard into an SUV, which was then propelled into the rear of my car. All in all, I was the luckiest. The hybrid is toast, and honestly, with the front and rear damage to the SUV, they might total it. I still have to deal with insurance and auto body shops to determine the extent of damage to my Civic. Wreckage from the hybrid was scattered across both lanes and into people's yards and driveways.

Wow, that person was definitely not paying attention. How are you feeling hon?

At least you were in the front, everyone behind you gets the blame but the last guy really gets it all. Hope he has good insurance.

Not sure what that driver was doing. SUV driver was patiently waiting for me to turn when this guy hit her. Well, it was a brand new hybrid, so I was told, so he should have insurance.

Oh my word!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Whatever happened to the driver of this car? I mean given the
condition of front end and your statement that the wreckage
was scattered so far.
You are absolutely right about the SUV, they will write it off
as a total..........when there is rear and front end damage.
Have you gotten any estimates yet?
Also, have you a rental part of your insurance?
Try Enterprise if you are in need? They often have a
deal, at least they did with State Farm who handled my claim.
In fact State Farm said they were their #1 preference.
They will pick you up at the body shop, and then you drop
it off when you pick up your car later. No muss, no fuss.

He got carted off to hospital, but don't believe it was serious from what I saw.
No estimates yet; will do this week.
Got some sort of rental insurance.
Will keep Enterprise in mind; thanks!

He/she must have been going pretty fast (40mph?) to have that happen. Yikes. Glad you're OK. Someone smashed into a car right out in front of our house about a month ago. Car looked just like this did. Not paying attention from what I had heard. Hope you get your car back sooner than later.

Two people who looked at the picture thought maybe 50mph because of how far the SUV was knocked (at least another car length, if not more, because my car was knocked a full car length and we'd had about 10 feet between us).

Will start the choosing auto body shop stuff today, sigh.

Yeah, person in SUV went to hospital. She was walking but EMTS assessed her and decided better safe than sorry. I was a little sore the next day but otherwise feel okay, just depressed over the cat.

Wow that's a hell of a whack! Glad you're okay. I work in motor insurance claims and don't often see them this badly damaged O_O

My brother thinks the guy was doing 40-50mph, so does another friend who saw the picture. Don't have police report yet so don't know the results. Yes, this is what happens when you don't apply the brakes to a Honda Insight...

Yeah, could have been the middle car. And if that had been the case, I would have said 'no hospital, take me to the vet!"

Good grief! You're lucky you had an SUV between yourself and this hybrid. Sounds like the hybrid driver took their eyes off the road. We all do it and we know we shouldn't (reaching for something, telling the kids to knock it off, drinking a cup of coffee, the phone). I drive, a lot, about a 1000 mile a month, this pic is a good reminder to pay attention and remember that you never know what the other guy is going to do. Glad you're okay.

Yeah. Still waiting for report to see what happened (why car A hit car B which then hit me, Car C). Definitely glad I wasn't in the sandwich position. Would have totalled the car, I'm sure.

Just... wow. Same happened to me years ago, expect we were where the SUV was (car was totalled). The person that hit us didn't brake either, complete idiot.

Glad you're ok, hope the damage to the car isn't too bad. *hugs*

Thanks.

Don't know if he was on phone or not. He admitted fault and that's all that's necessary for his insurance to pick up the tab. Hoping to get my car back all fixed up next week...

Well, not like I haven't seen enough accidens involving women (well, I've rear-ended someone (sigh)). But wouldn't surprise me if cellphone usage was involved...
