it's dead, Jim.

Yup, SyFy has pulled the plug on Eureka, and it's not even going to get those six episodes of a sixth season, as they first talked about.

The whole debacle is detailed at http://insidetv.ew.com/2011/08/08/eureka-cancelled/.

Sucks. It was a fun series. Now SyFy has what left? Nothing that I can think of!

I'm surprised it made it so long. Syfy messed with their seasons and scheduling so much it's hard to follow what season aired when. It was the 'second half' of season xx -- a year later!? And airing at the same time as new seasons sooooo why don't we just call a duck a duck LOL. It is a fun show but at least it did get time to play, thankfully.

They really are hellbent on getting rid of anything sci-fi.

Eureka deserved a nice wrap up, I mean c'mon Syfy, it's not like you have anything else that intereting. I don't bother with anything on the channel and haven't in years. I like Amanda but I never liked "Will" on Sanctuary so I just sort of wandered off after a bit and none of the other actors really appeal, sorry not even the SG alumni on the show. *sigh*

I've been tracking Syfy's over all ratings and you know, they're 'up' a bit vs last summer but they're running two new shows as well (Legend Seeker and Alphas) and considering that, they're not up by much and they're 18-49 rankings are almost dead even vs. last year. So basically they're spending more money for pretty much the same ratings and rankings. Is that how it's supposed to work? lol

They're going to spend the extra money on new monster of the week movies. And wrestling. And "reality" shows. You see why I took the channel out of my onscreen guide years ago? Made my blood pressure get too high.

Five years seems to be the kill switch. I guess since so many actors sign a five year contract if they're on at the beginning of a show, it's cheaper to kill the show than to deal with contract negotiations. At least to the bean counters, who don't realize you can't just stick a new (and cheaper) show on the air and get the same results.

Who all wants to gag when you see the Friday night line-up dominated by wrestling? *shudder* I feel like an old friend betrayed us!

Unbelievable, another Syfy screw up in my eyes.
Why not kill the "Syfy" channel altogether and re-brand it "Wrestling Channel" already...

Well, they didn't want to be a sci-fi channel anymore. Guess they're getting what they want.

SUCKS! The only thing left is Sanctuary. Although I live in Canada so we don't get Syfy but we do have the awesome chanel called Space and they actually air science fiction shows all the time, shocker :p

Skiffy has screwed around with the scheduling of Eureka since the writers' strike. It's never had a consistent slot since. They've been showing the current season, piecemeal, for over a year now.

And surprise surprise, it will end after its fifth season. Should've seen it coming...will probably be the same with Sanctuary too.

TV these days sucks. There hasn't been anything new for ages that has inspired me to watch.

I found Eureka a lot of fun in a bubble gum way, though yea, I often had trouble finding it and had to do catch up later. I'm bummed it's cancelled :(

I am loving Alphas, but I guess I probably shouldn't get too attached. :-(

Other than Warehouse 13 (which I'm close to dumping) Eureka was the only thing worth watching on SyFy. One more false step with WH13 and I'm done with SyFy forever.

Yeah, I was pretty bummed that Eureka was canceled. Other than the paranormal shows I watch on Wed, only Warehouse 13 is left.
